Microorganisms are genetically engineered to continuously co-produce amino acids, proteins, microbial biomass, chemicals, or any combination thereof by microbial fermentation, particularly by microbial fermentation of a gaseous substrate. The microorganisms are C1-fixing. The production of ethylene, microbial biomass, and heterologous tandem repeat proteins can be improved. This can be effected by improved promoters or nutrient limiting means.

Microorganisms and methods for the continuous co-production of tandem repeat proteins and chemical products from C1-substrates

The invention provides for the integration of a CO-consuming process, such as a gas fermentation process, with a COelectrolysis process. The invention is capable of utilizing a CO-comprising gaseous substrate generated by an industrial process and provides for one or more removal modules to remove at least one constituent from a CO-comprising gaseous substrate prior to passage of the gaseous substrate to a COelectrolysis module. The invention may further comprise one or more pressure modules, one or more COconcentration modules, one or more Oseparation modules, and/or an Helectrolysis module. Carbon conversion efficiency is increased by recycling COproduced by a CO-consuming process to the COelectrolysis process.

Process for improving carbon conversion efficiency

A fermentation unit and a method of carrying out fermentation are described. The fermentation unit can be transported from one facility to another to carry out a fermentation process. The fermentation unit and method allow for the fermentation of a C1-containing substrate from a source at a particular facility to produce products such as alcohols and acids. Examples of the source of the C1-containing substrate include without limitation steel manufacturing processes, coal and biomass gasification processes, coke manufacturing processes, etc. The fermentation unit can be housed within a container having a volume of less than about 6 m.

A personal hygiene device for cleaning the hands or feet has an outer enclosure of generally donut-like shape which forms an open ended cavity for receiving a user's hand or foot. The innermost surfaces of the enclosure which face inwardly into the cavity are covered with bristles. The enclosure has an internal reservoir within its walls for containing a suitable detergent or soap solution, and one or more outlet openings in the innermost surfaces of the enclosure are connected to the reservoir. A pump mechanism allows the user to pump fluid from the reservoir to the outlet openings, so that the user can move their hand or foot back and forth over the bristles to work up a cleansing lather.
