Network services are deployed in a networked environment in association with a user account. Dependencies of a network service, such as other network services, may be identified based on an online analysis and an offline analysis of the network service. Further, anomalies associated with the dependencies may be identified in some situations. A call graph may include nodes corresponding to the network services and its dependencies, and may include an identifier corresponding to a part of the call path that has the anomaly. An inspection of the call graph allows software developers to readily recognize that their service depends on a potentially flawed software that may cause a service failure or outage.

Software application dependency insights

A provider network (and associated methods) permits virtual machine instances to be terminated but imposes some checks to reduce the risk that an instance is unintentionally terminated. In one example, a safety stock threshold is imposed for a group of instances. If terminating instances within that group would cause a violation of the safety stock threshold, the provider network requests confirmation for the instances to be terminated. In another example, a time delay is imposed after receipt of an instance termination request before the instance is actually terminated. During the time delay, the instance is transitioned to an idle state but otherwise persists on its host computer thereby allowing time to revoke the instance termination. In yet another example, the provider network obtains independent confirmation of the identities of all instances to be terminated before such instances can be terminated pursuant to a termination request.

Virtual machine termination management

A portable safety anchor for use in an aperture with side jambs such as a door or window as a tie off for a safety line. The anchor has a pair of clamps mounted on a bar longer than the aperture is wide. The clamps are T-shaped with a stem and a cross arm. The stem is adapted for contact with a first side of the wall and the cross arm has a toe and a heel. The toe is adapted for contact with the side jamb and the heel is adapted to extend beyond the side jamb on the first side of the wall. The heel has an aperture through which the bar passes. Means are provided for securing the clamps on the bar with the toes in frictional contact with the side jamb and the stem in frictional contact with the first side of the wall. A safety line is tied from the toe of one or both of the clamps such that a force applied to the safety line on the second side of the wall is transferred to the first side of the wall by the clamps.
