The present invention relates to ultrafast laser inscribed structures for signal concentration in focal plan arrays, focal plan arrays, imaging and/or sensing apparatuses comprising said focal plan arrays, as well as methods of making and/or using ultrafast laser inscribed structures for signal concentration in focal plan arrays, focal plan arrays, imaging and/or sensing apparatuses comprising said focal plan arrays. Such ultrafast laser inscribed structures are particularly adapted to condense broad band radiation, thus allowing increased sensing efficiencies to be obtained from imaging and/or sensing apparatuses. Such ultrafast laser inscribed structures can be efficiently produced by the processes provided herein.

Ultrafast laser inscribed structures for signal concentration in focal plan arrays

Mine dust in underground coal mines is potentially explosive and must be sampled and tested for sufficient inert content regularly. The present invention comprises a pneumatic mine dust sampling instrument equipped with a specially designed nozzle arrangement that delivers a controlled pulse of air which entrains the mine dust, similar to the entrainment process that happens during a mine explosion. The entrained mine dust can then be collected and tested for compliance with applicable federal standards.

Solid state lasers emitting at first and a second wavelengths include an additional a conversion amplifier for converting photons having the first wavelength into photons having the second wavelength, thereby improving output efficiency of a preferred wavelength. Erbium lasing materials such as erbium doped garnets and fluorides, are employed, along with the conversion amplifier formed of a transition metal doped II-VI semiconductor, e.g., Cr:ZnSe.

The replacement grill fits the grill opening of an automobile, the grill having a surround, a mount shelf extended from the surround, and clips for joining the mount shelf to the auto. The grill is further comprised of a multi-layer, substantially porous insert with an outer layer of expanded material, preferably having diamond shaped openings. A center mesh divides the outer layer from a partial, non-porous reflective inner layer, the inner layer having a defined shape.
