Disclosed is an air conditioner that can operate in a general cooling mode in which indoor air is cooled by heat exchange with a first refrigerant in a main evaporator, or alternatively in a fast cooling mode in which the indoor air is primarily cooled by heat exchange in a midway heat exchanger which includes the main evaporator for the first refrigerant and a fast cooling condenser for a second refrigerant, and then re-cooled in a fast cooling evaporator for the second refrigerant. Accordingly, fast and agreeable air cooling can be achieved.

A micro-multi channel heat exchanger includes a lower header having a hollow for receiving refrigerant and an upper header opposite to the lower header. A plurality of tubes are arranged in a length direction of the upper and lower headers at fixed intervals, each having opposite ends fixed to the upper header and the lower header. A plurality of channels are formed in the tubes and elongated to be in communication with the hollows of the two headers. Each channel has an area of a section, parallel to a length direction of the two headers, reducing at a fixed ratio as the channels go from an air inlet side to an air outlet side. An integrated refrigerator evaporator having a plurality of pipes and fins is manufactured by injection molding with plastics. According to the present invention, pipes and fins are molded by plastic plates, and a heat exchanger is formed by molding the pipes and fins into a series of &ldquo;S&rdquo; shapes. A first bending section formed by the heat exchanger, which is molded in a series of &ldquo;S&rdquo; shapes, is inserted into a mold main body to manufacture a header cap. A first header cap is manufactured by injected melted plastic material body into the mold main body under the state of covering the mold main body with a mold cap. The first header cap is engaged with a first header main body having a refrigerant inlet and outlet. The refrigerator evaporator according to the present invention results in a relatively lower product cost than the evaporator composed of a metal substance, as well as a high recyclability.

A heat exchanger with small-diameter refrigerant tubes is disclosed. The heat exchanger has a plurality of air guide fins assembled with each other by one or more vertical rows of refrigerant tubes passing through the air guide fins. In the heat exchanger, each of the refrigerant tubes is a small-diameter tube having an outer diameter of not larger than 6 mm. In addition, four rows of offset surfaces are vertically formed on each of the air guide fins at a position between two tubes of each vertical row of refrigerant tubes through a pressing process such that the four rows of offset surfaces are arranged along a transverse direction of the fin. Four rows of vertical slits are each formed by two air guide openings defined between opposite side edges of each of the offset surfaces and the land surface of the air guide fin. In the heat exchanger, the number of the slits is reduced, in addition to changing the shape and dimension of the slits so as to allow the slits to be compatible with the small-diameter refrigerant tubes. The heat exchanger is also reduced in its production cost, accomplishes the recent trend of compactness, and minimizes its air-side pressure loss, in addition to accomplishing an improvement in its heat exchange operational performance due to its enhanced heat transfer efficiency. This heat exchanger is also improved in its productivity.
