A solid-state battery includes an anode material including silicon or tin. The anode material may include silicon and/or tin in various forms including layers or intermixed particles of various phases and crystallinity.

Anode material—method of production and solid-state battery made therewith

An all-solid-state lithium battery, thermo-electromechanical activation of LiS in sulfide based solid state electrolyte with transition metal sulfides, and electromechanical evolution of a bulk-type all-solid-state iron sulfur cathode, are disclosed. An example all-solid-state lithium battery includes a cathode having a transition metal sulfide mixed with elemental sulfur to increase electrical conductivity. In one example method of in-situ electromechanically synthesis of Pyrite (FeS) from Sulfide (FeS) and elemental sulfur (S) precursors for operation of a solid-state lithium battery, FeS+S composite electrodes are cycled at moderately elevated temperatures.

Lithium all-solid-state battery

The invention provides filamentous organism-derived carbonaceous materials doped with organic and/or inorganic compounds, and methods of making the same. In certain embodiments, these carbonaceous materials are used as electrodes in solid state batteries and/or lithium-ion batteries. In another aspect, these carbonaceous materials are used as a catalyst, catalyst support, adsorbent, filter and/or other carbon-based material or adsorbent. In yet another aspect, the invention provides battery devices incorporating the carbonaceous electrode materials.

Stable silicon-ionic liquid interface lithium-ion batteries

Various embodiments of the present disclosure describe energy storage devices. In one example, an energy storage device includes an anode having a plurality of active material particles, a cathode having a transition metal oxide material, and an electrolyte including a room temperature ionic liquid to couple the anode to the cathode. Each of the plurality of anode active material particles have a particle size of between about one micrometer and about fifty micrometers. One or more of the plurality of anode active material particles are enclosed by and in contact with a membrane coating permeable to lithium ions.

Ionic liquid-enabled high-energy Li-ion batteries

Exemplary flexible thin film solid state lithium ion batteries () and methods for making the same are disclosed. An exemplary flexible solid state thin film electrochemical device () may include a flexible substrate (), first () and second electrodes (), and an electrolyte () disposed between the first () and second electrodes (). The electrolyte () is disposed on the flexible substrate (). The first electrode () is disposed on the electrolyte (), and the second electrode () having been buried between the electrolyte () and the substrate ().

Flexible thin film solid state lithium ion batteries

An electrochemical cell including a multi-layer solid-state electrolyte, a battery including the cell, and a method of forming the battery and cell are disclosed. The electrolyte includes a first layer that is compatible with the anode of the cell and a second layer that is compatible with the cathode of the cell. The cell exhibits improved performance compared to cells including a single-layer electrolyte.

Solid-state multi-layer electrolyte, electrochemical cell and battery including the electrolyte, and method of forming same

A lithium metal thin-film battery composite structure is provided that includes a combination of a thin, stable, solid electrolyte layer [such as Lipon, designed in use to be in contact with a lithium metal anode layer; and a rapid-deposit solid electrolyte layer [such as LiAlFin contact with the thin, stable, solid electrolyte layer []. Batteries made up of or containing these structures are more efficient to produce than other lithium metal batteries that use only a single solid electrolyte. They are also more resistant to stress and strain than batteries made using layers of only the stable, solid electrolyte materials. Furthermore, lithium anode batteries as disclosed herein are useful as rechargeable batteries.

Methods and Pd/VOdevices for hydrogen detection are disclosed. An exemplary method of preparing an improved sensor for chemochromic detection of hydrogen gas over a wide response range exhibits stability during repeated coloring/bleaching cycles upon exposure and removal of hydrogen gas. The method may include providing a substrate. The method may also include depositing a V0layer that functions as a Hinsertion host in a Pd/V0hydrogen sensor to be formed on said substrate. The method may also include depositing a Pd layer onto said V0layer; said Pd layer functioning as an optical modulator.
