The disclosure relates to methods, systems, and apparatus arranged and designed for converting non-methane hydrocarbon gases into multiple product gas streams including a predominately hydrogen gas stream and a predominately methane gas steam. Hydrocarbon gas streams are reformed, cracked, or converted into a synthesis gas stream and methane gas stream by receiving a volume of flare gas or other hydrocarbon liquid or gas feed, where the volume of hydrocarbon feed includes a volume of methane and a volume of nonmethane hydrocarbons. The hydrogen contained in the syngas may be separated into a pure hydrogen gas stream. A corresponding gas conversion system can include a super heater to provide a hydrocarbon feed/steam mixture, a heavy hydrocarbon reactor for synthesis gas formation, and a hydrogen separator to recover the hydrogen portion of the synthesis gas.

Method and system for converting non-methane hydrocarbons to recover hydrogen gas and/or methane gas therefrom

The disclosure relates to methods, systems, and apparatus arranged and designed for converting non-methane hydrocarbon gases into multiple product gas streams including a predominately hydrogen gas stream and a predominately methane gas steam. Hydrocarbon gas streams are reformed, cracked, or converted into a synthesis gas stream and methane gas stream by receiving a volume of flare gas or other hydrocarbon liquid or gas feed, where the volume of hydrocarbon feed includes a volume of methane and a volume of non-methane hydrocarbons. The hydrogen contained in the syngas may be separated into a pure hydrogen gas stream. A corresponding gas conversion system can include a super heater to provide a hydrocarbon feed/steam mixture, a heavy hydrocarbon reactor for synthesis gas formation, and a hydrogen separator to recover the hydrogen portion of the synthesis gas. The gas conversion system can have a modal design such that it can operate to form hydrogen gas or alternatively operate to form synthetic natural gas with the same unit operation components.

A volume of natural gas including a volume of methane and a volume of other alkanes may be cleaned of the other alkanes using a steam reformer system to create synthesis gas.

Method and system for converting associated gas

A Sagnac interferometer event sensing device is disclosed. The device includes first and second light sources respectively emitting first and second light beams at first and second, different wavelengths. The device includes an optical fiber path, a first portion along which only the first light beam travels, a second portion along which only the second light beam travels, and a third portion along which both the first and second light beams travel. The device includes a first detector at an end of the first portion of the optical path to receive the first light beam, and a second detector at an end of the second portion of the optical path to receive the second light beam. The device includes a first plurality of depolarizers disposed along the first portion of the optical fiber path, and a second plurality of depolarizers disposed along the second portion of the optical fiber path.

Sagnac interferometer event sensing and locating device

This disclosure is of a fiber optic switch, where an actuated plunger causes a snap-action mechanism to change rapidly from a first state to a second state and place a loaded member from a first strain condition into a second strain condition where the two conditions are substantially different. A strain sensor mounted on the loaded member senses the strain of the loaded member and transmits a corresponding signal on a fiber optic cable.

Fiber optic switch

A retrofit energization arrangement especially suitable for an aircraft wherein original factory-placed wiring can be reused in common bus form for plural new loads in order to avoid the expense and hazard of disassembling original wiring bundles for new conductor incorporation. Serviceable wiring possibly earlier retired in place or becoming unneeded from equipment removal can, by way of the invention, be used for plural diverse new loads including loads of disparate operating cycle and current requirements for example, even though energized via a common bus. In the disclosed apparatus both energizing current and load control signals are transmitted via the same electrical bus between control location and load areas of the aircraft where control decoding and energy tap-off occur, the latter by switch mode power supply if needed. Control signals of sinusoidal waveform, minimal electromagnetic and radio frequency interference character and limited existing bus filtering attenuation are disclosed; these may be embodied as the Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) or Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System, CTCSS, frequencies used in the radio communication art. Loads of differing types are disclosed as examples in the described embodiment of the invention; additional loads are feasible. Use of the invention in land vehicles, watercraft and building structures is also contemplated.

Common bus aircraft retrofit load control

A field emission device () is provided for reducing power and audible noise during discharging of dielectric surfaces (). The field emission device () comprises an anode () and a first substrate () including a cathode plate () comprising a plurality of active display devices () and dielectric surfaces (). The plurality of active display devices () emit electrons () to strike the anode during a scanning mode, and emit electrons () to strike the dielectric surfaces () during a discharge mode. At least one of a plurality of spacers () positioned between the anode () and the cathode plate () comprise a first sense electrode () positioned proximate to the anode (), and a second sense electrode () positioned proximate to the cathode plate () and spaced apart from the first sense electrode (). A circuit () for sensing a difference in charge between the first and second sense electrodes () is coupled to the anode () and cathode plate () for alternately initiating the scanning mode and the discharge mode in response to the difference in charge reaching a threshold.

Discharge of a field emission display based on charge accumulation

An apparatus () for, and method of, placing a plurality of spacers () between a parallel opposed anode and cathode () of an emissive display includes temporarily securing, by applying a vacuum for example, a first side of one of the anode or cathode to a base () having a plurality of electromagnets () positioned therein. The electromagnets () attract a first side of each of the plurality of spacers (), thereby positioning each of the spacers () in a desired location on a second side of the one of the anode or cathode (). The spacers () may be provided from a shuffling tray () having a plurality of openings (), each opening () approximately aligned with one of the electromagnets () and shaped so as to present the first side to the electromagnet () to the one of the anode or cathode ().

Apparatus and method for placing spacers in an emissive display

A method of removing, or otherwise rendering non-conductive, unwanted carbon nanotubes () from an electronic device () includes exposing at least a portion of the device to light emitted by one or more of light sources () that emit light. Those regions of the device that have wanted carbon nanotubes formed thereon can be selectively masked, by various methods, from the emitted light.

Method of reducing leakage current in electronic devices having carbon nanotubes

An exemplary system and method for providing a multi-layer klystron-type electron beam device for the generation and amplification of millimeter-wave electromagnetic radiation is disclosed as comprising inter alia: a cathode layer (); a collector layer (); an extraction layer (); a control layer (); an input cavity (); an output cavity (); several ceramic spacer layers () dispose intermediately between the cathode () and the collector (); and optionally, several magnetic ceramic layers () for beam forming and focusing. After the klystron's layers are assembled, the device may be fired to form a substantially monolithic structure.

The device is characterized as matrix addressed according to an input signal. A varying video signal, in concert with the matrix scanning of the cathode, generates a video signal containing a scene imaged by the photoconductive layer of the anode plate.

A field emission display (100) includes a cathode plate (110) having a plurality of electron emitters (114), an anode plate (122) having an anode (124) connected to a potential source (126), and an anode voltage pull-down circuit (127) having an input (106) and an output (104). Output (104) is connected to anode (124), and input (106) is connected to potential source (126). Preferably, anode voltage pull-down circuit (127) causes an anode voltage (120) at anode (124) to drop to about ground potential prior to generation of a discharge current by electron emitters (114) for neutralizing positively electrostatically charged surfaces (137, 138) within field emission display (100).
