Systems and methods of ceiling-only fire protection of a storage structure are disclosed herein. The system comprising a plurality of fluid distribution devices disposed in a grid pattern beneath a ceiling and above the storage structure. The plurality of fluid distribution devices comprising a frame body, seal assembly and actuator. The system further comprising a fluid distribution system including a network of pipes interconnecting the plurality of fluid distribution devices with a water supply. The system further comprising a plurality of detectors to monitor the storage structure for a fire. The system further comprising a controller coupled with the plurality of detectors to detect and locate the fire, and coupled with the plurality of fluid distribution devices to identify and control operation of a select number of the plurality of fluid distribution devices that define a discharge array above and about the fire.

Controlled system and methods of storage structure fire protection

A sprinkler includes a frame, a deflector member, a sealing assembly, and a releasing mechanism for a controlled actuation. The releasing mechanism includes a hook member, a strut member, a load member, a link member, and an actuator. The link member surrounds or frames the strut and hook members and holds the members in a static relationship of an unactuated configuration. A preferred link member includes a single central slot through which each of the hook member and the strut member extend. The actuator is arranged with respect to the link member to separate the hook and strut members and break the link member upon operation of the actuator.

Fire sprinkler with actuator

A protection device for a fire protection sprinkler having a first housing portion extending along a first housing axis defining a first internal housing chamber for receipt of one portion of a trigger assembly. A second housing portion of the protection device extends along a second housing axis and defines a second internal housing chamber for circumscribing a another portion of the trigger assembly. The first housing chamber is in communication with the second housing chamber.
