A dry fire protection sprinkler assembly. The sprinkler assembly includes an elongate tubular outer housing having a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The second end of the housing defines a fluid discharge end of the sprinkler assembly having an outlet opening. A fluid deflection member is affixed to the housing at a preferably fixed distance from the outlet opening. The sprinkler assembly and the fluid deflection member define an unencumbered fluid flow path for a column of fluid discharge from the outlet opening. The fluid deflection member includes at least one tab to act on the unencumbered column of fluid discharge.

Fire protection systems and methods provide for the protection of horizontal concealed interstitial spaces of either a solid wood joist, open bar joist or open truss construction system. The gradient material includes a polymeric layer interlocked about a corrosion-prone core in order to protect the frame structure from a corrosive environment. A sprinkler wrench for installing a sprinkler includes a base having a tool engaging portion. A sidewall extends from the base and a sprinkler engaging portion extends from the sidewall. The sprinkler engaging portion includes a pair of oppositely facing surfaces defining an outer perimeter and a recess including two opposing flats. A protective boot cover is removably attached to the sprinkler engaging portion and includes flat cover portions covering the two opposing flats.
