In a simultaneous multi-data stream transmission method and apparatus a first signal is transmitted at a fixed repetition rate from a first transceiver device ( ). A second transceiver ( ) then receives and demodulates the information embedded in the first signal and transmits a second signal back to the first transceiver device ( ). The first transceiver ( ) then receives and demodulates the information embedded in the second signal and modifies the repetition rate to another rate. A wireless receiving device ( ) detects the another repetition rate of the transmitted first signal and takes action dependent on the designed application.

Simultaneous multi-data stream transmission method and apparatus

A method of accumulating and maintaining the accumulated data comprises steps of maintaining an intermediate count in a first memory device (12), reading a plurality of count values from a second memory device (14), determining a greatest count value of a subset of the plurality of count values which satisfy at least one criterion, and determining an updated count based upon the intermediate count and the greatest count value. The at least one criterion includes a criterion that the greatest count value differs from a second greatest count value of the subset of the plurality of count values by at most a predetermined difference greater than one. A system and a device to perform the method are detailed.

A non-volatile memory storage system having non-volatile memory (10) and volatile memory. The non-volatile memory (10) will have its most significant bits memory locations (11) periodically updated in response to a growing count of data. The least significant bits information reflecting such count will be maintained in volatile memory except during power down conditions. During power down conditions, the least significant bits will be stored in a separate plurality of memory locations (12) contained in the non-volatile memory (10).

Non-volatile memory storage system

A microprocessor is utilized to store a total accumulated driven mileage (odometer) signal in a non-volatile random access memory (RAM). Trip mileage manual pushbuttons are coupled to the microprocessor and enable the calculation and display of elapsed driven mileage (trip mileage), and a units pushbutton converts the displayed total accumulated driven mileage and/or the elapsed trip mileage from a miles to a kilometer visual display. The microprocessor effectively retrieves non-volatile stored odometer signals, loads them into a microprocessor volatile memory, increments the volatile memory mileage signal in accordance with signals from an actual mileage sensor and provides a visual mileage display on an odometer display. The magnitude of the odometer signal stored in the non-volatile memory can be preset to a predetermined mileage after the non-volatile memory is coupled to the microprocessor. This presetting can only be implemented a maximum of three times and only if a non-volatile, non-presettable actual mileage memory indicates the vehicle has been driven less than ten miles. In response to a substantial adjustment of the non-volatile stored odometer signal, an overflow flag is non-volatilely stored and the odometer display provides a visual indication that this adjustment has occurred whenever the odometer display provides a visual indication corresponding to the total accumulated mileage. The presetting of the odometer signal in the non-volatile RAM is accomplished through utilization of the trip and units manual controls, and the vehicle ignition switch.

Field presettable electronic odometer

A radio transceiver is disclosed having manual controls on a microphone and the remainder of the circuitry located in a main chassis. The microphone and chassis are connected by means of a multiconductor cable, and time sharing multiplexing techniques are utilized and serially transmit information, bidirectionally, along a common data line while a clock line is utilized to synchronize the operation of main chassis and microphone circuitry. Multiple bit binary coded digital words are sent to the microphone to activate microphone displays while analog signals are sent from the microphone to the main chassis to provide analog control signals for the transceiver. A digital synchronizing pulse detector is disclosed for use in the above transceiver multiplexing system. The detector identifies synchronizing pulses which occur in the clock signal wherein the identification insures the synchronization of microphone and main chassis circuitry. The transceiver provides for designating a subset of all of the available communication channels as desired channels, and in a memory mode the transceiver is tuned only to those desired channels. Distinctive visual displays are produced indicating if any channels have been designated as desired channels, and if all possible storage space for storing desired channel identification has been utilized. In addition, the dual use of a few pushbuttons is disclosed such that the sequence in which these pushbuttons are actuated determines the transceiver mode of operation selected.
