An armrest for a vehicle includes an armrest element and a floating support assembly configured for selectively pivoting the armrest element in a vehicle-fore and -aft motion. The floating support assembly includes at least one vertically translatable support arm pivotally attached to the armrest element. The at least one vertically translatable support arm may be operatively supported by a resilient member.

An assembly for mounting a door with a vehicle compartment includes an arm coupled with the compartment and with the door and a constant-force spring having a coil coupled with one of the door and the compartment and an end coupled with the other of the door and the compartment such that a contraction of the spring causes the door to move with rotation of the arm.

An air bag chute assembly attaches an air bag module to an automotive instrument panel. An outer collar attaches the assembly to the instrument panel. A tubular chute extends interiorly from the collar to a lower end defining a deployment path for the air bag. A door flap is disposed in an upper end of the chute rotatable from the collar to emerge from the instrument panel. A hinge attaching the door flap to the collar comprises a plurality of S-shaped extendable hinge straps laterally spaced along one edge of the door flap. A first hinge strap proximate one lateral end of the hinge has a first length shorter than a second length of a second hinge strap proximate an opposite lateral end of the hinge, thereby restricting rotation of the door flap at the one lateral end in order to avoid contacting a windshield during deployment.

A cup holder assembly includes a door configured for translation between an open and a closed configuration, at least one receiver sidewall, and at least one first cup holder surface provided by a bottom surface of the door and configured to upwardly extend at least a portion of the receiver sidewall when the door is disposed in an open configuration. A retention system for a container is provided, including at least one container biasing member and at least one container supporting member. The container biasing member may be door-mounted or receiver sidewall-mounted.

An assembly for mounting a door with a vehicle compartment includes an arm coupled with the compartment and with the door, a track fixed with the compartment, and a carrier pivotably coupled with the door and slidable along the track. The assembly further includes a spring coupled between the door and the compartment such that a contraction of the spring alone causes the door to move with rotation of the arm and movement of the carrier along the track. A track cover engages the carrier to prevent disengagement of the carrier from the track.

A console armrest assembly includes a support, a displaceable cover and a hinge pivotally attaching that cover to the support. A dampening strut is connected between the hinge and the support. Further, a detent mechanism is carried on the strut and a support for holding the cover in a closed position.

A console assembly includes an outer frame having a bin aperture defined therein, wherein an arcuate back wall extends from the bin aperture to within the outer frame. A rotatable bin is disposed in the bin aperture and includes an interior volume accessible through a rim. The rotatable bin is rotationally operable within the bin aperture between a closed position and an open position, wherein at least a portion of the rotatable bin is rotated through the bin aperture and the interior volume of the rotatable bin is accessible from above. A biasing mechanism extends from the arcuate back wall to the rear wall of the rotatable bin. The biasing mechanism includes a constant force spring that biases the rotatable bin toward the open position. A latch/release mechanism retains the rotatable bin in the closed position against a biasing force of the biasing mechanism.

A cup holder assembly includes a housing having a track member, wherein an insert, having first and second sides, is adjustably received on the track member in a vertical manner. The insert is adapted to be positioned within the housing in either an upright or inverted position. The insert thereby provides first and second storage configurations relative to the upright and inverted configuration of the insert within the housing.

A floor console includes a climate control unit. A bracket of the floor console unit includes an interior surface facing the climate control unit and an exterior surface opposite the interior surface. An armrest is supported by the bracket and is moveable relative to the bracket. A gas spring extending from a first end connected to the armrest to a second end connected to the exterior surface of the bracket. The connection of the second end of the gas spring to the exterior surface of the bracket reduces packaging constraints for the climate control unit on the interior surface of the bracket.

Floor console

An electrical socket cap includes a tether between the cap and an electrical socket, wherein the tether provides power to the cap. The cap is adapted to close an opening to the electrical socket in a closed position, and further adapted to allow access to the electrical socket in an open position. The cap further includes inner and outer surface which include one or more electrical ports disposed thereon. Electrical ports disposed on the inner surface are not accessible when the cap is in the closed position, while ports disposed on the outer surface of the cap are accessible when the cap is in the closed position. Electrical ports disposed on the inner surface are accessible when the cap is in the open position while the electrical socket is also accessible. The tether is electronically coupled to the electrical socket.

An overhead console assembly for a vehicle comprising a sunglass bin is disclosed. The sunglass bin defines an outer perimeter configured to be disposed in an overhead console. The overhead console assembly also includes a mirror assembly configured within the outer perimeter of the sunglass bin. The mirror assembly includes an axial engagement assembly that connects the mirror assembly to the sunglass bin. The axial engagement assembly comprises a damper operable to maintain a position of a conversation mirror about a positioning axis relative to the sunglass bin.

A portable electronic device dock includes a storage unit and a lid, wherein the lid is adapted to clamp a portable electronic device between a portion of the lid and a portion of the storage unit to retain the portable electronic device in a user-accessible display position. The device dock includes a slide assembly adapted to bias the lid to an open position and a clutch assembly adapted to retain the lid in a clamped position on the portable electronic device. The slide assembly is coupled to an axle member, which is further coupled to support arms disposed on the lid. The slide assembly is further coupled to the clutch assembly on an opposite end such that the clutch assembly can limit movement of the slide assembly to further limit movement of the lid.

A vehicle load floor assembly having a load floor coupled with a handle. The handle is operable between first and second positions. At least one support leg is coupled to the load floor. The at least one support leg is retracted when the handle is in the first position and deployed when the handle is in the second position. A base wall supports the at least one support leg, when deployed, to maintain the load floor in a substantially lateral position. The base wall supports an underside of the load floor when the at least one support leg is retracted.

A vehicle component is provided that includes a console surface, at least one circuit board proximate the console surface, and an array of proximity sensors electrically connected to the at least one circuit board. Each of the proximity sensors emit a field that combine to form an activation field, wherein a lateral direction of the activation field extending approximately parallel to the console surface is greater than a longitudinal direction of the activation field extending approximately perpendicular to the console surface.
