A rail system for a motor vehicle includes a structural member disposed on an exterior surface of the motor vehicle. The structural member has an inner surface connected to an upper surface, the upper surface connected to an outer surface, and the inner surface is spaced apart from the outer surface and the outer surface substantially faces away from the motor vehicle. An appliqu&#xe9; is attached to the structural member. The appliqu&#xe9; covers a bottom edge of the structural member and extends along a lower portion of the outer surface of the structural member obscuring a portion of the outer surface of the structural member.

An injection molded part for a motor vehicle includes a film having a scratch-resistant layer, a plastic substrate molded to the film, wherein the plastic substrate is at least partially transparent or translucent, and a scratch-resistant coating molded to the plastic substrate on a side opposite the film.

A detachable lift gate hinge cover assembly includes a bracket fixed to a vehicle roof, the bracket including an attachment member having an integrally connected coupling portion. A plate assembly includes a panel having a retention member integrally connected to the panel. The plate assembly when rotated in a first rotation direction aligns the retention member with a clearance opening of the coupling portion allowing insertion of the retention member through the clearance opening to releasably engage a hook shaped end of the retention member with the coupling portion. The plate assembly when positioned in an installed position within a roof hinge pocket of the roof at least partially covers a lift gate hinge attachment area. The plate assembly when rotated in a second rotation direction opposite to the first rotation direction releases the hook shaped end from the coupling portion to release the plate assembly from the installed position.

A motor vehicle window assembly, one implementation of which includes a wiper in electrical communication between a defrost grid of a movable window and an elongate conductor of a guide rail assembly having a straight guide portion and an oblique guide portion, and in contact with the elongate conductor when the movable window is in an open position. At least one implementation of the window assembly includes an actuator cable including a core having a terminus coupled to a cable connector portion of the movable window, wherein when the actuator cable is actuated, the movable window moves in a direction extending away from the open position along a plane, toward a closed position out of the plane, and into the closed position in another plane such that the terminus of the core is carried out of the plane by the movable window.
