A system, apparatus, and method may include receiving edge device data, training a remote artificial intelligence (AI) model using the edge device data, and storing resulting remote AI model parameters in a ledger-based data structure. The ledger may also store device health data indicative of electronic device health of one or more edge devices. A ledger node may store a shared ledger. The shared ledger may use blockchain or encryption techniques and may store encrypted data, data pointers, or transfer data. The shared ledger may be accessible by at least two parties to share particular device health data.

Two or more read modes of a data storage system and device are defined. The data storage device is capable of concurrently reading from two or more tracks using two or more read transducers. The read modes utilize different numbers of the two or more read transducers while reading data. The read modes are selected based on an operating condition of the data storage system or device.

A readback signal from a first reader and a readback signal from a second reader are received, the first reader and the second reader configured to read two-dimensional data from at least one track of a recording media. A quality metric of the second reader is measured based on the readback signal. It is determined if the quality metric for the second reader is above a threshold. If the quality metric is above the threshold, the first reader and the second reader are used to read the data.

A load beam and a disc drive data storage system using the same are disclosed. The load beam includes a resilient section adapted for attachment to a support arm, and a substantially rigid section coupled to the resilient section and coupleable to a gimbal. The resilient and rigid load beam sections are separated by a preload bend. A first slide capture is included on the rigid load beam section and is adapted to slidably secure a conductor sleeve to the rigid section such that the sleeve can move longitudinally therethrough. The first slide capture substantially constrains conductor sleeve movement orthogonal to longitudinal movement. A first longitudinal inhibiting capture is included on the resilient load beam section and is adapted to secure the sleeve to the resilient section such that longitudinal displacement of the conductor sleeve proximate the firsts longitudinal inhibiting capture is constrained.

A self-loading disc head slider includes first and second raised bearing surfaces having outside bearing edges which diverge from one another along a leg portion which extends from a leading portion to a waist portion of the first and second bearing surfaces. A cavity dam defines a sub-ambient pressure cavity between the first and second bearing surfaces. A leading contour extends from a leading slider edge an intersection with first and second bearing surfaces. A notch is positioned within a central region of the leading contour between the first and second bearing surfaces and has first and second side walls which extend from the leading slider edge to the sub-ambient pressure cavity, through the cavity dam. At least one of the side walls is non-divergent from a longitudinal slider center line at the intersection in a direction from the leading slider edge toward a trailing slider edge.

A head-gimbal assembly supports a transducer proximate a magnetic surface for magnetic recording. This assembly comprises a flexure used in conjunction with a slider having a recess of sufficient depth provided in its top surface such that when a flexure member is set in the recess, and the member is attached during the HGA assembly process, the top of the flexure is flush with or is below the top surface of the slider. The gimbal component of the flexure is further provided with lateral alignment tab(s) to contact an interior wall of the recess, thereby providing alignment of the slider to the gimbal in the lateral direction, and longitudinal alignment tabs to contact the trailing surface of the slider, thereby providing alignment in the longitudinal direction. The slider is further provided with an identifying code on a non-recessed portion of the top surface of the slider such that the code is not obstructed by the flexure in the top plan view.

A self-loading disc head slider includes a leading slider edge, a trailing slider edge and first and second raised side rails with first and second bearing surfaces, respectively. A cross rail extends between and is coplanar with the first and second raised side rails. A tapered surface is formed within the first and second raised side rails and the cross rail. The tapered surface extends from the leading slider edge to an intersection with the first and second bearing surfaces. A subambient pressure cavity is positioned between the cross rail and the trailing slider edge. A notch is positioned within the tapered surface, which extends from the leading slider edge to the cross rail and terminates prior to the intersection. The notch defines a leading edge of the cross rail along the tapered surface such that the leading edge of the cross rail is recessed from the first and second bearing surfaces.
