An adjustable stand for rotatably and releaseably supporting a flat panel display is disclosed together with a display device usable with the stand. The display includes a boss projecting from a rear surface thereof, which boss is received in an arc-shaped channel in a plate portion of the stand. The stand further includes two hingedly connected legs and selective locking devices for controlling the angle between the legs, thereby allowing the stand hold the display in a variety of orientations with respect to a horizontal support surface.

Coordinate input stylus

A digitizer pointer for use in conjunction with a digitizer system. The pointer is shaped so as to reduce finger/hand fatigue of users manipulating the pointer over and/or across a digitizer tablet. In certain embodiments, an enlarged grip area may flare toward the bottom which helps to prevent the pointer from sliding out of the user's hand. In certain other embodiments, a textured grip area is provided to improve the user's ability to hold onto and control the pointer. In yet further embodiments, a flare is provided near the tip of the pointer in order to reduce the force required by fingers of the user to manipulate and hold the pointer.

Pointer for use in digitizer systems

A stylus for use in a coordinate input system (e.g. digitizer tablet system) includes a finger wheel. The degree of rotation of the finger wheel by the user determines the extent to which a chosen graphical parameter (e.g. line thickness, color, shading, gray scale, etc.) is varied. Thus, a user can easily vary the graphical parameter while drawing by merely rotating the finger wheel about its fixed rotational axis. Preferably, rotation of the wheel causes an intermediate gear wheel with teeth thereon to rotate which in turn causes a potentiometer to detect the degree of rotation of the finger wheel. In alternative embodiments of this invention, a touchpad for inputting finger position and/or finger pressure information may be provided on the side of the stylus instead of the finger wheel.

A coordinate input device (e.g. mouse-like device or cursor-like device) includes an outer housing which is movable between a first position adapted for use by right-handed users, and a second position adapted for use by left-handed users. In such a manner, the coordinate input device is easily utilized by both right and left-handed users. In certain embodiments, a rotatable thumb or finger wheel may be provided in the coordinate input device for manipulation by the user in order to adjust a parameter of an image being written/drawn on a corresponding display screen by the coordinate input device.
