An apparatus for supporting a workpiece includes a master template, a locking assembly and a plurality of substantially planar gauge slice templates. The master template includes a plurality of positioning features. The locking assembly is connected to the master template and is movable with respect to the master template between a locked position and an unlocked position. The gauge slice templates are each associated with a workpiece engaging structure that is engageable with the workpiece for supporting the workpiece. Each gauge slice template releasably engages at least one positioning feature of the master template. Each gauge slice template engages the locking assembly, wherein the gauge slice templates are not moveable with respect to the master template when the locking assembly is in the locked position, and the gauge slice templates are moveable with respect to the master template when the locking assembly is in the unlocked position.

Apparatus for supporting a workpiece

A method for accurately assembling and positioning a modular tooling structure for manipulating a workpiece includes receiving, at one or more computers, three-dimensional model information describing the workpiece; generating, at the one or more computers, three dimensional design information representing a configuration for the modular tooling structure, wherein the three dimensional design information includes position data describing a position for at least one engaging member of the modular tooling structure with respect to the workpiece; positioning a multi-dimensional gauge with respect to a base structure based on the position data; and assembling the modular tooling structure using the design information such that a first end of the modular tooling structure is connected to the base structure and the at least one engagement member is positioned at a second end of the modular tooling structure and is in engagement with the multi-dimensional gauge.

Method and apparatus for accurately positioning automated modular tooling

An apparatus for automatically drying wet floors includes a controller, a moisture detector that is operable to detect the presence of moisture at a first location and transmit a moisture detection signal to the controller in response to detecting the presence of moisture at the first location, and a blower. The blower is operative to turn on and off for drying the wet floors by directing moving air toward the first location in response to an operating signal from the controller. The controller outputs the operating signal to the blower based on the moisture detection signal.

Method and apparatus for automatically drying wet floors

An apparatus includes a backing surface that is operable to support a workpiece, and a mounting structure that is operable to move linearly between a first position and a second position. Movement from the first position to the second position is in a direction toward the backing surface. A first engaging part is fixedly connected to the mounting structure for movement in unison with the mounting structure, wherein the first engaging part is operable to engage a first portion of the workpiece. A second engaging part is rotatably connected to the mounting structure such that the second engaging part rotates with respect to the first engaging part in response to movement of the mounting structure from the first position to the second position, wherein the first engaging part is operable to engage a second portion of the workpiece.

A method for bending a workpiece includes positioning a first bending surface adjacent to the workpiece; positioning a second bending surface adjacent to the workpiece; and moving the first bending surface and the second bending surface linearly toward the workpiece while the second bending surface rotates with respect to the first bending surface such that the first bending surface bends a first portion of the workpiece, the second bending bends a second portion of the workpiece, and the first portion of the workpiece, and the second portion of the workpiece are disposed on a first side of a bend line formed on the workpiece by the first bending surface and the second bending surface.

A bending die having a first bending surface and a second bending surface that is rotatable with respect to the first bending surface. The second bending surface rotates with respect to the first bending surface during a bending operation. The first bending surface is engagable with a workpiece during the bending operation to bend a first portion of the workpiece. The second bending surface is engagable with the workpiece during the bending operation to bend a second portion of the workpiece. The first portion of the workpiece and the second portion of the workpiece are disposed on a first side of a bend line formed by the bending operation.

A method and device for checking clearance between a stamping die includes a template representative of relative movement between the stamping die and end tool. A template including a surface representing movement of the end tool relative to the stamping die is positioned relative to the stamping die. The position is indicative of a location of the end tool during operation of the stamping die. Contact between the template and the stamping die along the surface representing movement indicates potential contact between the end tool and the stamping die during operation.

Method for checking clearance between stamping die and workpiece transfer tool

A rotary cam assembly for a bending die includes first and second arms pivotally attached to an actuator. Linear movement of the actuator causes rotation of the rotary cam relative to a bending cam. A rotatable element is supported between the first and second arms and guides along a cam surface of a fail-safe element mounted on an upper die. In the absence of actuator movement, the fail-safe element cause rotation of the rotary cam from a released position to a bending position ensuring proper position of the rotary cam relative to a bending cam.
