The invention is directed to a female-female syringe adapter, related systems, and methods of using the female-female adapter. The female-female syringe adapter may be used with male nozzles of syringes and reconstitution devices when reconstituting a lyophilized powder. The female-female adapter also may be used to combine doses in a common syringe from mixed reconstitution products in a multi-chambered syringe.

Female-female adapter

The present disclosure is directed to a vial adapter for interconnecting a vial and a fluid delivery device, and, more particularly, to a vial adapter having a modular design consisting of separately constructed components cooperatively arranged and coupled to one another. The modular construction allows for rapid manufacturing reconfigurations of one or more components with minimal costs to create new vial adapter configurations that meet specific needs.

A syringe stabilizing apparatus has a base and a syringe support. The syringe support is vertically disposed above the base, elevating a fluid-filled portion of an infusion set vertically above the base and orienting a delivery end of the fluid-filled portion upwardly relative to a horizontal plane to take advantage of a gravitational effect on a fluid during delivery of the fluid from the fluid-filled portion to a patient. The syringe support comprises a first retainer and a selectively actuated tube clamp. The first retainer has an opening in which a rigid portion of the infusion set is received and retained therein without further user intervention. The selectively actuated tube clamp is operatively aligned with the first retainer. A flexible tube extending from the rigid portion of the infusion set extends through the selectively actuated tube clamp.

An applicator device for applying at least one agent to a target site, including: a rigid section configured for the passage of fluid therethrough, the rigid section having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion, the proximal end portion configured for communication with at least one fluid reservoir; a formable section attached to the distal end portion of the rigid section, the formable section configured to be shaped into a desired configuration, the formable section including at least a first lumen and a second lumen, the first lumen configured to receive fluid from the rigid section; and a malleable member positioned within the second lumen, wherein the malleable member is configured to assist in retaining the formable section in the desired configuration.

A method of using a device for encouraging adherence to a medication schedule and proper administration technique includes placing the device on a surface. The device includes a body, a timer associated with the body for measuring and displaying an elapsed time since an immediately prior medication dose was administered; and a button on the body that, when depressed relative to the body, resets the timer. The button is sized and shaped for accommodating a medication container used to store or activate the medication. The button and the body are configured for cooperating with the medication container for facilitating mixing of the medication. The method further includes engaging the medication container with the button and resetting the timer.

Device for encouraging adherence to medication schedule and proper administration technique

A reconstitution assembly includes a housing including a lower sleeve and an upper sleeve, including a first container and a second container disposed vertically opposite the first container. A transfer set assembly is disposed within the housing between the first container and the second container. The transfer set assembly includes an upper spike housing and a lower spike housing, with a flow path defined through the upper spike housing and the lower spike housing. The transfer set assembly is configured to access contents of the first container and then upon the activation of a triggering mechanism, create a fluid pathway between the first container and the second container. The triggering mechanism ensures the transfer set assembly sequentially accesses the contents of the first container before accessing the contents of the second container. The disposition of the first container activates the triggering mechanism.

Assembly to facilitate user reconstitution

A system for mixing or reconstituting agents including engageable syringe barrels, one of which having a male engagement region and the other a female engagement region. Each of the male and female engagement regions is provided with a screen. The screens are closely spaced from one another when the first and second syringe barrels are engaged with one another. The screens may take the form of a mesh, a plurality of protuberances, or cantilevered wedges having tapering thicknesses.

Reconstitution and applicator system for wound sealant product

A method and apparatus for dispensing a relatively viscous composition to a wound site at a location within a mammalian body requiring a relatively long and thin catheter for access includes filling a distal tip of the catheter with the composition, directing the distal tip to the wound site, dispensing the composition onto the wound site and then inflating a balloon against the applied composition to enable same to congeal enough so that the composition remains fixed to the wound site after the catheter is removed from the body. In an embodiment the balloon is secured to the catheter such that when air is applied through the catheter to the balloon, the balloon expands longitudinally and distally past a distal end of the catheter.

Gastrointestinal applicator and method of using same

A package assembly for a drug reconstitution assembly includes a body, a drug reconstitution assembly and a removable lid. The body includes a plurality of protrusions configured to mate with a plurality of corresponding features of the drug reconstitution assembly to inhibit axial and rotational translation of the drug reconstitution assembly and its constituent parts during shipping and handling. By preventing axial and rotational shifting during shipment, premature and accidental puncture or contamination of the medication or the spikes within the drug reconstitution assembly is minimized.

A reconstitution assembly includes a housing including a lower sleeve and an upper sleeve, including a first container and a second container disposed vertically opposite the first container. A transfer set assembly is disposed within the housing between the first container and the second container. The transfer set assembly includes an upper spike housing and a lower spike housing, with a flow path defined through the upper spike housing and the lower spike housing. The transfer set assembly is configured to access contents of the first container and then upon the activation of a triggering mechanism, create a fluid pathway between the first container and the second container. The triggering mechanism includes trigger fingers which ensure the transfer set assembly sequentially accesses the contents of the first container before accessing the contents of the second container. The disposition of the first container activates the triggering mechanism.

A tissue sealant applicator system includes a tissue sealant applicator having an elongate body forming a bore containing a tissue sealant component, a piston, and a spray adaptor in fluid communication with the bore and forming a gas flow path. The system also includes a control unit adapted to be connected to a gas source, and a first gas passageway connecting the gas flow path and the control unit. The applicator includes an actuating member cooperatively associated with the piston to eject the tissue sealant from the bore upon user actuation. The control unit is adapted to supply gas from the gas source to the first gas passageway essentially simultaneously with user actuation of the actuating member, and to permit the supply of gas to the spray adaptor from the gas source to continue to flow for a predetermined time delay after the user stops actuating the actuating member.

Tissue sealant applicator system

An applicator includes a bore for containing a sealant component, a piston moveably positioned in the bore, a plunger member connected to the piston with a distal end disposed within the bore and a proximal end depending from the bore, a distal outlet communicating with the bore and connectable to a gas source, and an actuating member carried by the proximal end of the plunger member to move with the plunger member as the plunger member moves along the bore. The applicator may be used in a system with a gas source connected to the distal outlet, and a control unit connected to the actuating member and the gas source, the control unit adapted to supply gas to the distal outlet from the gas source essentially simultaneous with a force applied to the actuating member.

Hand triggered tissue sealant spray apparatus and system

The present invention is generally directed to various structures for applying a sealant to a work surface. In one aspect of the invention, a sealant applicator assembly is provided for use with an apparatus of the type having an elongated body defining an interior bore and having a piston movably positioned in the bore and a pusher member operatively associated with the piston. The assembly comprises a spray adaptor adapted to communicate with the bore of the body and defining a distal outlet. A first gas passageway is cooperatively associated with the distal outlet and configured to direct gas to create a spray discharge of the sealant. An actuating member is adapted to be cooperative associated with a pusher member to eject sealant through the distal outlet and is operative to simultaneously actuate a supply of gas to the first gas passageway for creating a spray discharge of sealant.

Flow-through systems for processing biological fluid are disclosed. The flow-through systems include a removal device in the flow path for removing unwanted compounds and agents. The removal device includes a removal media contained within a housing made of two separate portions sealed together. The housing is maintained in a substantially vertical disposition, thereby ensuring substantially uniform and complete exposure of the fluid to the media.
