A sensor system includes an actuator, an accelerometer coupled with the actuator, a rigid member, a transducer, and one or more processors. The actuator generates motion. The accelerometer outputs an acceleration signal responsive to at least the motion of the actuator. The rigid member extends from a first end coupled with the accelerometer to a second end. The transducer is coupled with the second end of the rigid member. The transducer can be configured to couple with a load, and can output a force signal responsive to at least a portion of the motion of the actuator transmitted to the transducer via the rigid member. The one or more processors determine a mechanical impedance of the load based at least on the acceleration signal and the force signal.

Systems and methods for characterization of mechanical impedance of biological tissues

A microelectromechanical system (MEMS) coil assembly is presented herein. In some embodiments, the MEMS coil assembly includes a foldable substrate and a plurality of coil segments. Each coil segment includes a portion of the substrate, two conductors arranged on the portion of the substrate. The substrate can be folded to stack the coil segments on top of each other and to electrically connect first and second conductors of adjacent coil segments. In some other embodiments, the MEMS coil assembly includes a plurality of coil layers stacked onto each other. Each coil layer includes a substrate and a conductor to form a coil. The conductors of adjacent coil layers are connected through a via. The MEMS coil assembly can be arranged between a pair of magnets. An input signal can be applied to the MEMS coil assembly to cause the MEMS coil assembly to move orthogonally relative to the magnets.

Microelectromechanical system coil assembly for reproducing audio signals

A system receives audio data in a frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz. The received audio data is encoded by the system into ultrasonic data in frequencies that are greater than 20 kHz, and transmitted into a local area that is proximal to the transmitting device, i.e., within the transmission range of the transmitting device. An ultrasonic communication device that is located in the transmission range of the transmitting device may receive the ultrasonic data. The received ultrasonic data is decoded by the ultrasonic communication system in the receiving device into audio data in a frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz, and subsequently presented to a user of the receiving ultrasonic communication device.

Local auditory display using ultrasonic encoding and decoding

An audio system for customizing sound fields for increased user privacy. A microphone array of a headset detects sounds from one or more sound sources in a local area of the headset. The audio system estimates array transfer functions (ATFs) associated with the sounds, and determines determining sound field reproduction filters for a loudspeaker array of the headset using the ATFs. The audio system presents audio content, via the loudspeaker array, based in part on the sound field reproduction filters. The presented audio content has a sound field that has a reduced amplitude in a first damped region of the local area that includes a first sound source of the one or more sound sources.

Customized sound field for increased privacy

An audio system presented herein includes a transducer array, a sensor array, and a controller. The transducer array presents audio content to a user. The controller controls the transducer array to adjust a level of tactile content imparted to the user via actuation of at least one transducer in the transducer array while presenting the audio content to the user. The audio system can be part of a headset.

Methods and system for adjusting level of tactile content when presenting audio content

The disclosed high-efficiency motor may include the following: at least two magnets, a rigid structure arranged between the at least two magnets, where the rigid structure has traces configured to act as a moveable coil, and at least two couplings that respectively link the magnets to the rigid structure in a flexible manner. An electrical input signal applied to the moveable coil may cause motive force to be applied the rigid structure according to the input signal, so that the rigid structure moves orthogonally relative to the magnets as driven by the input signal. In this manner, the high-efficiency motor may be incorporated into a system that may reproduce a full-range audio signal. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

High-efficiency motor for audio actuation

A suspension component may be used within a system for isolating vibrations produced by an electrical component. A body of the suspension component may be formed from a single piece of planar material. A suspension component includes a plurality of flexures. The plurality of flexures includes a first set of flexures configured to suspend a first sub-assembly of a transducer from support brackets, a second set of flexures configured to suspend a second sub-assembly of the transducer from the first sub-assembly, and a third set of flexures configured to suspend the second sub-assembly from the support brackets.

Multi-suspension element for transducers

An in-ear device comprises a transducer section, a front volume section, and a rear volume section. The transducer section includes a frame and piezoelectric actuators coupled to the frame. The piezoelectric actuators are configured to generate an acoustic pressure wave. The transducer section includes a first side and a second side, the second side being opposite the first side. The front volume section is coupled to the first side to form a front cavity, the front volume section including an aperture from which the generated acoustic pressure wave exits the front volume section towards an ear drum of a user. The rear volume section is coupled to the second side to form a rear cavity. The transducer section, the front volume section, and the rear volume section are configured to fit entirely within the ear canal.

Miniature high performance MEMS piezoelectric transducer for in-ear applications

A transducer system isolates vibrations produced by a transducer. The transducer system comprises the transducer and a vibration isolation system. The transducer can produce vibrations and is configured to be coupled to a device. The transducer includes a first sub-assembly including a coil assembly and a second sub-assembly including one or more magnets. The vibration isolation system is configured to isolate vibrations produced by the transducer from the device. The vibration isolation system includes a plurality of support brackets, and a suspension component including a plurality of flexures. The plurality of flexures includes a first set of flexures configured to suspend the first sub-assembly from the support brackets, a second set of flexures configured to suspend the second sub-assembly from the first sub-assembly, and a third set of flexures configured to suspend the second sub-assembly from the support brackets.

Multi-degree of freedom transducer vibration isolation system

A tissue conduction audio system includes a transducer that produces vibrations as it presents audio to a user. A vibration isolation system isolates the vibrations produced by the transducer. The vibration isolation system includes a suspension component with flexures that are configured to have an asymmetric spring rate when at rest and a symmetric spring rate when the transducer is in use and/or at a target position.
