A biopsy device handle having a biased firing mechanism activated by side and rear triggers. The firing mechanism has a longitudinally sliding deflecting portion including a post. The post is disposed within a channel and retained by a catch. The deflecting portion deflects transversely when transverse force is applied to a transverse face by the side trigger or when a longitudinal force is applied to an inclined face by the rear trigger to release the post from the catch.

Biopsy device handle

A lid assembly configured to close an opening in a vessel holding a liquid. The lid assembly includes a drinking port, plunger member, and drive assembly. The plunger member is moveable between closed and open positions with respect to the drinking port. The plunger member prevents the liquid from flowing through the drinking port when the plunger member is in the closed position and allows the liquid to flow through the drinking port when the plunger member is in the open position. The drive assembly includes drive circuitry that automatically directs the drive assembly to move the plunger member to the open position when the drive circuitry detects the lid assembly is in a drinking position. The drive circuitry automatically directs the drive assembly to move the plunger member to the closed position when the drive circuitry detects the lid assembly is in other than the drinking position.

A fluid connector comprising a housing having an access site, and a cover member passively positioned in an initial covering relationship with the access site, the cover member being reversible from an uncovered relationship under load to the initial covering relationship, is described. A method of preventing contamination and aseptically covering an access site of a fluid connector with a cover member is also described.

Peristaltic pump assemblies in which the closing and opening of a pivoting or sliding door is coordinated with movement of the occlusion bed toward and away from the rotor assembly to engage and disengage tubing within the occlusion pathway are disclosed. Linkage mechanisms provided by the interaction of cam surfaces with rollers, as well as bar linkage mechanisms, are disclosed. The linkage mechanism, in addition to providing precise displacement of the occlusion bed, may also provide an over-center feature that enhances safety and pump operation when the door is in a closed position. Latching mechanisms and sensors may be incorporated. Adaptive components such as tubing cassettes routing aspiration and/or infusion tubing in a predetermined configuration to mate with occlusion pathways in aspiration and/or infusion pump assemblies provided in various types of medical devices and control consoles are also provided.

A garlic press includes a ratchet body pivotally connected to a main body and biased away from the main body. A pusher is coupled to a ratchet rack, with a pawl engaging the ratchet rack to incrementally urge the pusher downward through the ratchet body and toward a grid of blades. A slicing blade attached to the main body slices bits of garlic pushed through the grid of blades.

Adaptive tubing cassettes for use in connection with interventional catheter assemblies

A compact ultrasound needle guidance system and method of use is described. The needle guidance system has components to adjustably target a needle's destination in the plane of a two-dimensional ultrasound image before insertion of a needle into a patient. Needle movement is tracked using a position detector that provides a visual display of the needle path on the ultrasonic image.

A bedpan for collecting waste includes a seating area and a plurality of cavities. The seating area is located in a main body of the bedpan. The plurality of cavities is formed within the seating area and includes a first cavity for collecting liquid waste and a second cavity for collecting solid waste. The first cavity and the second cavity are separated by a divider.

A shoe releasing assembly for use with an orthotic bar or splint is disclosed. The shoe releasing assembly comprises a bar attachment member securable to a bar or splint, a shoe attachment member securable to the sole of a shoe, and latching means to secure the bar and shoe members. The bar attachment member comprises a base, a wall section at least partially surrounding the base. The shoe attachment member comprises a shoe attachment base, a shoe attachment wall section at least partially surrounding the shoe attachment base. When one of the attachment members comprises a wall section defining a recess, the corresponding member comprises a wall section having a shape conforming to the recess for vertically inclined insertion. Latching means are provided for receiving, securing, and disengaging the shoe attachment member to the bar attachment member. Methods of treating foot disorders using the assembly are also disclosed.

The present application relates to a urinary catheter movement system for use with a urinary catheter located within an interior volume of a urinary catheter pouch. The system can include a catheter movement controller configured to selectively control longitudinal movement of the catheter relative to a port in the pouch. The system further can include a gripper assembly configured for gripping the catheter located within the interior volume of the urinary catheter pouch.

A vial adapter is described comprising a housing, the housing comprising an expandable chamber to contain a volume, an internal passage in communication with the expandable chamber, at least one opening in communication with the internal passage, and an access member integral with the housing. A hollow spike comprising a proximal end is integral with the housing and a distal end. The spike comprises a vent lumen open at the distal end and a fluid lumen open at the distal end, the vent lumen is in communication with the internal passage and the fluid lumen is in communication with the access member. A first check valve restricts communication from the expandable chamber to the internal passage, and a second check valve restricts communication from the internal passage to the opening. Methods of reconstituting and/or withdrawing hazardous material using the vial adapter are described.
