Disclosed is an apparatus and method for transporting a person from a position on the ground onto the apparatus generally in a horizontal orientation. The apparatus comprises a board assembly upon which the person is positioned lengthwise in a horizontal orientation. The board assembly includes a belt housing for at least one endless belt, and a battery powered drive system for rotating the belt. A hand-held, portable, external, detachable controller has a motor coupling that enables the battery powered drive system to be detachably connected to a battery within the controller. A coupling connector manually connected and disconnected to the drive system enables the coupling connector to engage and operate the drive system.

A pressure therapy system includes an air pump; a pneumatic line pressurized by the air pump; and a cuff in fluid communication with the pneumatic line, the cuff including flaps sized and shaped to extend around a user's limb, a first chamber and a second chamber separated fluidly by the cuff from the first chamber, wherein the pneumatic line splits into first and second line segments or openings, the first line segment or opening communicating fluidly with the first separated chamber, the second line segment or opening communicating fluidly with the second separated chamber, and wherein the second line segment or opening or a pathway of the cuff leading to the second separated chamber includes a flow restricting structure that delays pressurized air from reaching the second chamber relative to the first chamber.

The present invention is a device that attaches to a light source to transmit and distribute light energy to the surface or internal chamber of a tooth for the purpose of photo-initiation of light curing resins and dental tooth whitening. More particularly, the invention may be used with a single or multiple Light Emitting Diode(s) to more efficiently collect and transmit the light energy emitted by the LED(s) resulting in increased total energy, uniform illumination, and collimation of the light energy delivered to the tooth.

Dental light guide

An electromagnetic radiation conveyance device comprising a proximal end, a distal end, and a light directing intermediate portion. The proximal end is configured for attachment to an electromagnetic radiation emitting device. The distal end is anatomically preformed with a profile complementary to a shape of a dental arch. The light directing intermediate portion is between the proximal end and the distal end. In addition, the light directing intermediate portion is configured to convey electromagnetic radiation from the proximal end to the distal end.

Dental illumination device

An eye drop dispensing device includes a trough member with a space to receive a cartridge housing enclosing a collapsible bag containing an ophthalmic liquid and comprising a spring finger applying pressure to the bag. The bag includes a wall pierced by a needle coupling the liquid to pump means through a one-way valve. The pump means includes a plunger biased to a resting position establishing a dosage chamber. Actuator means moves the plunger to enlarge the dosage chamber, causing a drop in pressure which draws a predetermined quantity of the liquid through the one-way valve into the dosage chamber. The actuator means then releases the plunger so that it moves to compress the dosage chamber to pump the liquid in the dosage chamber through a second one-way valve to spray the liquid through pinholes formed in a nozzle angled to direct the liquid as eye drops to the user's eye.

An improved fishing line fastening device comprising a pair of mating members with a first one of the members being formed with a central opening extending therethrough and the other of the members being formed with a projection tapered inwardly and downwardly at an angle in excess of about 10.degree. and being extendable through the opening of the first member and carrying flange means at the tip of the projection for securing the members together.

Fishing line fastener

A suture fastener includes male and female components being made of a bio dissolvable material. The male component has a flange extending transversely to its longitudinal axis at one end thereof. The female component has a hole defined therein for receiving the male component. The female component includes a surface extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the hole, behind which the flange of the male component is retained upon insertion of the male component into the female component. A suture is clamped between the male and female components upon insertion of the male component into the female component. An instrument for inserting the male component into the female component is also disclosed.

Suture fastener and instrument

A packing system for valves includes a preformed packing, an upper packing cup, a lower packing cup, and a threaded bushing or a gland yoke capable of capturing the upper packing cup when the system is installed in a stuffing box. The preformed packing includes an inner cylindrical shell surrounded by an outer cylindrical shell. Two evenly spaced perforated metal sheets are provided intermediate the inner and outer cylindrical shells. The preformed packing is compressed between the upper and lower packing cups to form a tight seal around a shaft passing through the stuffing box. When the preformed packing is compressed, the perforated metal sheets engage the upper and lower packing cups. When replacing the preformed packing, simply lifting the upper packing cup away from the stuffing box will also cause the preformed packing to be lifted out of the stuffing box.

Packing system for valves

Coin roll wrapper cutter for assisting in removing the wrapper from a roll of coins. The wrapper cutter has a cutter body which is generally an elongated cylinder. A roll of coins secured by a wrapper is pushed into the top of the cylinder and the side of the roll is contacted by a sharp knife which forms an elongated slit along the wrapper. The slit wrapper easily permits the removal of the coins. Preferably, the knife is spring loaded and moves out sufficiently so that coin rolls of different denominations can be opened by a single size of coin roll wrapper cutter.

A roller for a roller skate is made of a light transmitting material. The roller includes an electrical circuit for emitting a light from within the roller. The entire roller is thereby illuminated by the circuit and appears, itself, to be a light source. A flat peripheral edge of the roller is particularly brightly illuminated. The light source or the roller, or both may be colored to produce a color or color combination of choice.
