A pressure sensitive adhesive article that includes: a backing having two major surfaces, at least one of which has a pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed thereon, the pressure sensitive adhesive layer having an average thickness of 25 microns to 50 microns and including: a styrene-isoprene-containing block copolymer including a styrene-isoprene diblock copolymer and a styrene-isoprene-styrene triblock copolymer; a tackifier; and an oil; an article that includes recycled corrugate having the pressure sensitive adhesive article adhered thereto; a method of sealing a package using the pressure sensitive adhesive article; and a method of making the pressure sensitive adhesive article.

Adhesive articles and methods

A system including a polymeric sheet. The polymeric sheet comprises a base sheet having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface and a multiplicity of spaced rails projecting from the first surface of the base sheet. The rails comprise a stem portion attached to and substantially upright from the first surface of the base sheet and a top portion on the distal end of the stem opposite the base sheet. The top portion comprises a first surface opposite the base sheet and a second surface facing the first surface of the base sheet. Additionally, the rails have a length greater than the width of the stems. The first surface of the base sheet, the second surface of the top portion and the surface of the stem defines a cavity with walls, and an adhesive coated on at least a portion of the cavity wall.

Coextruded polymeric article and method of making the same

An optical adhesive including a viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer and a cured polymer layer immediately adjacent the viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer is described. The viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer a refractive index less than 1.570 and the cured polymer layer has a refractive index of at least 1.570. An interface between the viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer and the cured polymer layer is structured. The cured polymer layer has a storage modulus of at least 2000 MPa at 20&#xb0; C. and a glass transition temperature of no more than 65&#xb0; C.

Optical adhesive

Optical constructions are disclosed. A disclosed optical construction includes a reflective polarizer layer, and an optical film that is disposed on the reflective polarizer layer. The optical film has an optical haze that is not less than about 50%. Substantial portions of each two neighboring major surfaces in the optical construction are in physical contact with each other. The optical construction has an axial luminance gain that is not less than about 1.2.

The disclosed light directing article comprises a structured layer, an adhesive sealing layer, and barrier elements. The structured layer comprises multiple microstructured elements that are opposite a major surface. The adhesive sealing layer has a first region and a second region. The second region is in contact with the structured layer. The barrier element are at the first region. The first region with the barrier element and second region have sufficiently different properties to form a low refractive index layer between the adhesive sealing layer and the structured layer. The barrier element comprises a crosslinked polymeric matrix having a modulus of elasticity less than 4.4 GPa.

Light redirecting film articles include a microstructured optical film, such as a daylight redirecting film, bonded to another film. This type of assembly may serve various purposes. For example, the assembly may protect the structured film, provide additional functionality, such as diffusion or infrared reflection, and/or facilitate attachment of the microstructured optical film to a mounting surface, such as a glazing or window pane.

Optical film is disclosed. The optical film includes a binder, a plurality of particles, and a plurality of interconnected voids. The volume fraction of the plurality of interconnected voids in the optical film is not less than about 20%. The weight ratio of the binder to the plurality of the particles is not less than about 1:2.

Heat de-bondable adhesive articles include a heat-shrinkable optical substrate with optically clear adhesive disposed on the two major surfaces of the heat-shrinkable substrate. Optical articles can be prepared by disposing the heat de-bondable adhesive articles between two optical substrates. Other optical articles can be prepared by disposing an optically clear adhesive layer and a heat-shrinkable optical substrate on an optical substrate.

The present invention is a two-part adhesive layer including a first, optically clear adhesive composition and a second, light-blocking adhesive composition substantially surrounding the first, optically clear adhesive composition.

The present invention relates to protection films comprising an optical film suitably sized for an illuminated display device, the optical film having perimeter surface portions defining a central region. The protection film further comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive layer at the perimeter surface portions of the optical film. The optical film and/or pressure sensitive adhesive layer has been adapted such that the at least the central region of the optical film contacts the illuminated display device or the central region of the optical film is bonded to the illuminated display device by means of a self-wetting layer. The protection film may be preassembled or may be provided as a kit, the kit comprising an optical film and a double-faced pressure sensitive tape.

Non-silicone urea-based adhesives are disclosed which are prepared by the polymerization of reactive oligomers with the general formula X&#x2014;B&#x2014;X, where X is an ethylenically unsaturated group and B is a unit free of silicone and containing urea groups. The reactive oligomers can be prepared from polyamines through chain extension reactions using diaryl carbonates followed by capping reactions. Adhesive articles, including optical adhesive articles may be prepared using the disclosed non-silicone urea-based adhesives.

Optically clear adhesive or coating layers can be prepared by preparing a curable mixture, coating the curable mixture to form a layer, partially curing the curable mixture, drying the coated layer, and fully curing the curable mixture. The curable mixture may also be partially cured and then coated, dried and fully cured. The curable mixture includes two free radically polymerizable monomer compositions that are relatively incompatible and a transient compatibilizer, such as a solvent. Polymers of the two monomer compositions, if polymerized separately and blended, form phase separated domains. The curable mixture provides for adhesive or coating layers that are optically clear.
