A padlock configured to be locked and unlocked by a key can an internal biasing element that establishes a position of the locking mechanism within an internal cavity of the lock body of the padlock. The locking mechanism can be a linear lock configured to receive the key along an axial direction from the key-receiving axial end of the locking mechanism and internal cavity. The locking mechanism can include at least a lock cylinder (and sometimes other components) and having an axial length that is less than an axial distance between a pair of axial ends of the internal cavity. Notably, the padlock includes a biasing element received in the internal cavity of the lock body that biases the lock cylinder along the axial direction to maintain a key stop distance from a key stop on the lock cylinder to the key-receiving axial end of internal cavity.

A lockable tow device for a vehicle includes a main portion defining a hook or shackle and a connector portion extending from the main portion and forming a receptacle. A pin is received in the receptacle, the pin forming a wrist joint of the tow device. The armature has a shape generally defining a plane and includes an axial end face configured to selectively interfere with an abutment of the driver such that force on the armature from the abutment in response to attempted rotation of the driver is directed generally along the plane.

An ignition lock steering column lock includes a locking unit of the type having a lockbolt, a lockbolt carrier, and a spring-biased carrier pin engageable by a post slidably provided on a rotatable driver. The carrier pin is positioned on a steering column side of the driver. The operational positions of the lock are provided by detents formed on the driver.
