A structural assembly for a battery structure of a vehicle includes a lower wall and a pair of cross members. The lower wall is configured to support a cell stack. The pair of cross members are spaced apart from each other in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. Each cross member provides lateral support for a respective side of the cell stack and is configured to extend substantially an entire width of a battery enclosure. Each cross member of the pair of cross members includes an outer wall, an inner wall spaced apart from the outer wall, and connecting members. The outer wall, the inner wall, and connecting members cooperate with each other to define an internal cavity. The inner walls of the pair of cross members are secured to the lower wall and slidable relative to the outer walls of the pair of cross members.

Methods and systems are provided for a hydrocarbon (HC) trap system in an engine air induction system. In one example, a system may include a pillow-case type HC trap housed in a rectangular opening formed in a wall of an air conduit at the outlet of an air cleaner box. A frame may be integrally formed around the opening to support the HC trap protruding outward from the wall.

An integrated hydrocarbon trap and air filter in the soundtube of a vehicle for use in conjunction with the engine's air intake system is disclosed. The trap and air filter comprises a housing body having first and second ends. The housing includes hydrocarbon-adsorbing media and air filter media. The hydrocarbon-adsorbing and air filter trap are incorporated into a soundtube. A first soundtube portion connects the housing to the engine's air intake system while a second soundtube is open to ambient and connects the housing to a vehicle body structure such as a fender. Selection of the body diameter, thickness, and length, the dimensions and type of both air filter media and hydrocarbon-adsorbing media and position of the air filter media, NVH media, and space relative to the trap media and location of the integrated hydrocarbon trap and air filter along the soundtube provide superior tunability and adaptability.

A hose and a system including a hose may be used to connect various components. The hose may include a hose body, where an end segment of the hose body may be foldable over a clamp seat area of the hose body. There may be an opening in the end segment sized and shaped to provide access to a clamp, so as to better hold the clamp in place, while still enabling access.

The disclosed inventive concept provides a crushable air duct having formed thereon a series of strategically positioned and patterned crack-initiating grooves. The grooves allow the air duct to be crushed in an impact event and a specified impact force, thereby protecting adjacent and higher cost under hood components from damage. In an impact event, the series of grooves allows the cracks in the air duct to readily propagate throughout the pattern in a controlled and predictable manner. The crushable air duct is formed from a rigid polymerized material. The duct includes an inlet and an outlet. The grooves are formed on either or both the exterior surface and the interior surface of the duct. Some of the grooves extend generally between the inlet and the outlet. These grooves are preferably parallel. Other grooves are circumferentially formed around the duct. At least some of the parallel and circumferential grooves intersect.

Vapors in the fuel tank of a vehicle are collected in a carbon canister. An ejector or aspirator is used to purge the carbon canister in a pressure-charged engine in which a positive pressure exists in the intake. A compact ejector includes a substantially planar flange and a venturi tube coupled to the flange with a central axis of the venturi tube substantially parallel to the flange. By manufacturing the ejector in two pieces, dimensions within the ejector: throat, converging section, and diverging section, is more accurate than prior art manufacturing techniques thereby providing better flow characteristics throughout the boost range.

By mounting the ejector on an intake component, having the venturi tube on the inside of the intake component, and having the venturi tube parallel to the flange yields a very compact package and protects the ejector from damage from other engine components.

The present application provides various examples that may include a hose and a system. An assembly for clamping a tube includes a fitting including a land, a bolt housing, legs, and a tooth on each leg, a band surrounding an axis, contacting the land and formed with holes spaced along the band, and a bolt located in the bolt housing, including helical teeth engaged with said holes for changing a diameter of the band and forcing the tooth toward the band as the band is tightened by rotating the bolt.

An engine system including an air intake duct positioned upstream of an engine cylinder may include an ice ingestion feature for retaining condensation. An ice ingestion feature may include indents formed in the bottom of an air intake duct wall. As such, the ice ingestion feature may include compartments and/or grooves of varying depths, widths, and/or angles such that the ice retention rate may be based on the surface area of the compartment or grooves.

An engine system is provided. The engine system includes an intake conduit positioned upstream of an engine cylinder and also includes a PCV outlet opening into the intake conduit. The engine system further includes a condensate bypass duct in parallel fluidic communication with and vertically below the intake conduit, the condensate bypass duct including a duct inlet opening into the intake conduit and a duct outlet opening into the intake conduit.

A hose clamp for forming an air tight seal between a hose and a connector projecting from a housing of an air cooler of a vehicle. The hose clamp including a band which encircles the hose at a location where the hose and the connector overlap and has an adjustable diameter. A spring clamp for providing a compressive load to a compression seal in an air filtration system for a vehicle. The spring clamp may be made of a plastic composite and includes an arch-like arm wherein elastic deformation is distributed throughout the arch while providing a compressive load. The spring clamp may include a head piece with a greater thickness than the other parts of the spring clamp to provide greater material strength at a point of contact between the spring clamp and an air filter housing.
