A device, system and method for display for a craps table. In one example, a display may include a display portion operable to display a representation of data relating to a current die pair rolled by a shooter; and a display portion operable to display a representation of data relating to previous die pairs rolled. In one example, the representation of the data relating to the current die pair includes a graphic representation of the face of each die of the current die pair. A display may also include a display portion operable to display an indicator of a current point value of the craps game. Other features and embodiments are disclosed herein.

A security mark having multiple optically orthogonal coaligned bar codes is produced using a reflection hologram visible substantially at only a first wavelength that is layered over a wavelength sensitive filter, which blocks light transmission at the first wavelength but transmits light at a second wavelength, and having beneath it an additional bar code visible through the hologram and the wavelength sensitive filter at the second wavelength. A validation means reads multiple holographic bar codes with light at the first wavelength by illuminating the hologram separately from multiple directions, and further reads the bar code beneath the wavelength sensitive filter by illuminating the mark with light of the second wavelength. By suitable choice of multi-directional and multi-wavelength illumination, multiple coaligned bar codes may be read in the same physical location with no mutual interference.

A vending machine having promotional features, wherein a secured token is associated with a subset of all the items that can be vended, and validation of the token limits the items offered to the patron for his selection to only that subset of items. A first vending machine promotes a new product by the manufacturer of the new product distributing secure promotional tokens good for a free vend or a discount on the price of the new product. In a second vending machine, products from multiple manufacturers are separately promoted using distinct secure promotional tokens for each brand. In a third vending machine providing a plurality of time-metered services, a secure promotional token provides only a limited economy subset of services for the patron's selection from among the plurality of services.

A transceiver for reading RFID tags has a ferrite core antenna substantially circular in cross-section having a transmitting and receiving face producing substantially no RF energy below a plane of the transmitting and receiving face outside a peripheral surface of the ferrite core. A portion of the transceiver enclosure which passes through a mounting panel opening functions as light pipe for conducting LED indicator light in a substantially radially symmetrical manner to illuminate a sensing surface of the transceiver.

A system and method for enabling patrons at large venues, such as spectator venues, convention halls, or airports, which have identifiable delivery locations, to utilize hand-held, wireless communication devices to self-order food, drink, souvenir items or services from remote order fulfillment locations within the venue for delivery to the identified delivery locations. Verification of available service level is provided. Hierarchical menus can be provided for visual display or audible presentation of items or services for purchase on the devices, or for presenting other information. A delivery location identification code is provided with the order, which is acknowledged. Automatic electronic payment for the order occurs by prearranged means.

A system and method for enabling patrons at large-scale events at confined venues utilizes conventional or special hand-held, wireless communication devices to self-order food, drink and souvenir items from remote order fulfillment locations within the venue for delivery to the patrons' seats. Hierarchical menus are provided for display of items for purchase on the devices. Patrons transmit a seat identification code with the order, which is acknowledged, and send a confirmation code upon receipt of order delivery, which causes automatic electronic payment for the order by prearranged means.

An electronic security key is particularly adapted to exchange electronic data with an electronic coin acceptor circuit of a coin acceptor to enable the coin acceptor for coin programming. The electronic security key includes an electronic security key circuit defined by subcircuits including (1) circuitry for exchanging electronic data with an electronic coin acceptor, (2) encryption generating circuitry for generating encrypted password data at a sufficient value to generate authentication data from at least a portion of the electronic data transmitted to the electronic security key circuit, and (3) circuitry for transmitting the generated authentication data to an electronic coin acceptor circuit to thereby enable the electronic coin acceptor circuit for coin programming thereof.

A system and method for enabling patrons at large-scale spectator events at confined venues having identifiable seats utilizes conventional or special hand-held, wireless communication devices to self-order food, drink and souvenir items from remote order fulfillment locations within the venue for delivery to identified seats. Hierarchical menus are provided for display of items for purchase on the devices. A seat identification code is associated with the order when transmitted via the existing telecommunications and Internet infrastructure. Receipt of the order is acknowledged, and a confirmation code is sent upon receipt of order delivery. There is automatic electronic payment for the order charged to a patron account that is established by prearranged means.

A processor ( ) receives and processes accoupled logic level detection signals generated by a limiter amplifier ( ) for each discrete sensor system at each of the fixed frequencies to determine the presence of a vehicle ( ) in the monitored zone ( ). The fixed frequency and the predetermined phase delay are chosen to produce a null received signal resulting from reflections of the emitted beam from uniformly distributed atmospheric backscatter within the optical overlap area (A).

Multi frequency photoelectric detection system

An electro-optical detection system for detecting objects within the boundaries of a monitored zone, comprises a plurality of LED emitter and photodetector pairs. Each emitter (,) emits a beam of pulses of light energy into the monitored zone, and its paired photodetector (,) detects light energy including light energy from the beam that is reflected from an object within the monitored zone and generates light detection signals. A controller (,) operates the emitter and photodetector pairs and evaluates the light detection signals to discriminate between light energy of beams reflected from an object within the monitored zone and other light energy. The controller can selectively adjust the evaluation of the light detection signals to adjust the effective boundaries of the monitored zone.

A token for use with a token operated device includes a plurality of predetermined optical characteristics. The plurality of predetermined optical characteristics are disposed in a substantially radially symmetrical manner with respect to the token, and each of the optical characteristics have the property of a facet wherein an effective surface normal of said facet is a line along a predetermined vector angle with an elevational angle ranging preferably between 30.degree. and 60.degree.. An azimuthal angle of the facet surface is other than substantially along a radial line of the token or substantially along a line tangent to an annular ring centered on the token such that a token operated device can validate the predetermined optical characteristics substantially independent of token orientation. A method of defining a sensing system for detecting the presence of an object in a volume of space under surveillance by determining the optimal placement of a plurality of energy beams which are projected into the volume which comprises the steps of (A) placing the object at a preselected position within the space; (B) directing a plurality of sample beams of energy, which have a predetermined orientation, from a source onto the object; (C) detecting the reflections of the sample beam energy from points on the object by energy detectors; (D) recording the preselected position of the object, the predetermined orientation of sample beams, and the detection status of the energy detectors; (E) changing the equatorial and azimuthal angles of each of the beams and repeating steps (B), (C) and (D); (F) moving the source of the sample beams relative to the object; (G) repeating steps (B) through (F) to produce spatial maps of the locations at which the object is positioned when each of the energy detectors detect reflected sample beam energy; and (H) using the spatial maps so produced to select the optimal orientation of a set of energy beams which will maximize the detection probability of an object located in the volume of space under surveillance. This method is repeated for a plurality of different vehicles.

A vending apparatus of the type having drop shelves, wherein the shelves are retained in an upright position by a solenoid, and wherein, when so positioned, the solenoid forms a series electrical circuit with the shelf, such that the position of the shelf can be tested by testing the integrity of this series electrical circuit. The vending apparatus can be equipped with an acoustic input, such that upon receiving a particular acoustic input signal, the machine will automatically test the position of the shelves by testing the shelf/solenoid circuit, and in this way, an inventory of the contents of the vending machine can be performed.
