A wireless earbud () for in-ear use has an earbud housing (), a loudspeaker (), a rechargeable battery (), a first microphone () and a second microphone (). The first microphone () is adapted to pick up sound internally from an ear canal of a user wearing the wireless earbud. The second microphone () is adapted to pick up sound externally from outside of the ear canal of the user wearing the wireless earbud. Disclosed is also a storage and charging capsule () for at least one wireless earbud (). The capsule has an elongate insert part () having an earbud chamber () adapted to receive the or each wireless earbud (). A cover part () slidably receives the elongate insert part () and is placeable in an open position in which the cover part is retracted from the elongate insert part to allow insertion/removal of the or each wireless earbud () into/from the earbud chamber () of the elongate insert part (). The cover part is also placeable in a closed position in which it encapsulates the elongate insert part. The storage and charging capsule () further has a power source (), and a magnetic connector interface () in the earbud chamber () of the elongate insert part (). The magnetic connector interface () is connected to the power source () and is adapted to engage with a respective at least one charge pad () of the earbud () so as to secure the earbud () in the earbud chamber and allow charging thereof by the power source ().

The present invention discloses a system and method for rendering an audio signal over a wireless communication device where the video signal associated with the audio signal is being output to one or more displays in an audio-video system. The audio-video system includes a controller that outputs the video signal to the one or more displays, and a transceiver that transmits an audio signal associated with the video signal to the wireless communication device. A transceiver in the wireless communication device receives the transmitted audio signal from the audio-video system, and an audio processing circuit renders the audio signal as audible sound to the user of the wireless communication device.

The present invention uses metallization termination techniques to reduce the electro-magnetic field scattering at the edges of metallized areas. The metallization termination techniques provide a gradual transition from high conductivity areas to high impedance areas. The mobile phone antenna illuminates the PCB allowing currents to flow on the PCB. When the currents reach edges of the PCB they flow through a region of increasingly high impedance without reflecting back or scattering.

A combination mobile terminal and camera comprising a housing and a camera device integrated into a first portion of the housing. The camera device and the first portion of the housing in which the camera is integrated are moveable between a first position where the first portion of the housing is substantially aligned with a remaining second portion of the housing and a second misaligned position. In the first position, the camera may be oriented substantially parallel to a keypad, keyboard, or display in the housing. Individual buttons of a keypad on the housing may be used to control mobile terminal functions in one mode and camera functions in another mode. Certain individual buttons of the keypad may be rotatable with the camera. The alignment of the camera is such that it is possible to add additional optical elements to the optical path.

A mobile terminal comprises a first housing portion and a second housing portion. At least one flexible strap movably connects the first housing portion to the second housing portion at one end of each housing portion for relative movement of the housing portions along an axis parallel to the ends of the housing portions. The housing portions are movable between a first position where the inner major surface of the first housing portion is opposite the inner major surface of the second housing portion for at least partially concealing the user input means, and a second position where the outer major surface of the first housing portion is opposite the outer major surface of the second housing portion such that the user input means is exposed and accessible to the user. At least one of the housing portions encloses electronic components operable to transmit and receive telecommunication signals.

A method of operating a mobile terminal includes receiving mobile communications and transmitting mobile communications in a first mode of operation, and enabling at least one function that is not available in the first mode of operation while preventing transmission of mobile communications in a second mode of operation. The first mode of operation is activated responsive to receiving a valid authorization code in the second mode of operation. Related devices and computer program products are also discussed.

Methods, devices, and computer program products for providing multiple operational modes in a mobile terminal

A printed circuit board connector has a mounting portion mounted on a first side of a printed circuit board and an elastically biased contact portion extending from the mounting portion. The mounting portion is enlarged for vacuum pick up. The contact portion has a substantially S-shaped cross section and protrudes beyond a second side of the printed circuit board opposite the first side. The connector may be used with a single-sided printed circuit board where the connector provides an electrical coupling from the contact portion beyond the second side of the circuit board to a mounting pad on which the connector is mounted on the first side. The contact portion is elastically deformable from between a first state protruding beyond the second side of the printed circuit board to a second state substantially flush with the second side of the printed circuit board.

A method and apparatus for improving the efficiency of a multi-band antenna in a wireless terminal over a wide range of frequencies is described herein. To compensate for the undesirable coupling that occurs in a low frequency band between a parasitic antenna and a primary antenna in certain designs, a matching network is connected to at least one ground port of the multi-band antenna. The matching network controls the multi-band antenna performance based on the current transmission frequency band. In some embodiments, the matching network is configured to operate as an open circuit when multi-band antenna operates in the low frequency band, and to operate as a short circuit when multi-band antenna operates in the high frequency band.

Method and apparatus for improving the performance of a multi-band antenna in a wireless terminal

A radio frequency test interface for an electronic device includes a circuit board that includes a radio frequency contact. An antenna includes a resilient member that urges the antenna to engage the radio frequency contact. A test connector includes a conductive contact and is configured to engage the resilient member so as to displace the antenna from the radio frequency contact to allow the conductive contact to engage the radio frequency contact.

A mobile terminal can include a printed circuit board with a reference voltage conductor, an antenna coupled to the first side of the printed circuit board, and a parasitic resonator coupled to the second side of the printed circuit board. More particularly, the parasitic resonator can be connected to the printed circuit board by first and second couplings, which provide first and second impedances, respectively, between the parasitic resonator and the reference voltage conductor. The impedances can be of different values, and can be provided by discrete impedance components. The resonant frequency of the parasitic resonator can be adjusted by altering the impedances of the first and second couplings.

A multi-band antenna system for a wireless terminal can include a first low-band antenna that configured to resonate in response to first electromagnetic radiation in a low-band frequency range in an active state and a second antenna, that is separate from the first low-band antenna, and is configured to resonate in response to second electromagnetic radiation in the low-band frequency range in the active state.

Selectively engaged antenna matching for a mobile terminal. Antenna matching can be engaged, disengaged, or switched as needed depending on whether a movable cover or clam-shell portion of a mobile terminal is open or closed. A switch can connect a single matching network to a radiating element in one case, and disconnect the single matching network from the radiating element in the other case. Alternatively, the switch can connect one matching network to the radiating element to achieve one matched condition, and the other matching network to the radiating element to achieve the other matched condition. In other embodiments, a switchable matching arrangement can alter the signal and/or ground feed points of an antenna. The technique can be applied to planar, fixed external, or collapsible antennas.
