The explosive charge carrier has first and second ends and an intermediate opening formed therethrough between the two ends for holding an explosive charge. The first end has an annular groove with a tongue and the second end has a central opening defining an annular wall. Angularly spaced apart slots are formed in the second end from its edge. Two slots are formed through the annular wall on opposite sides thereof. A clip member having a loop-shaped portion with two legs with inward extending portions is provided for insertion of the inward extending portions into the central opening by way of the two slots for location in the annular groove of the first end of an identical carrier inserted into the central opening to secure the two carriers together with the tongue of the identical carrier located in a selected one of the slots formed in the annular wall.

Phaseable link carrier for explosive charge

A metal detonator housing has a central opening extending therethrough between upper and lower ends and a detonator located in the opening at the lower end. Two leads are conencted to the detonator for causing the detonator to explode upon the application of electrical energy to the two leads. A metal contact spring is located in the opening of the housing at the upper end and extends out of the upper end. The contact spring is electrically insulated from the housing. A spring is located in the opening of the housing and is coupled to the detonator for urging the detonator toward the lower end. One electrical leads extends from the detonator through the central opening of the housing and is electrically connected to the contact spring. The other electrical lead is electrically coupled to the housing. A shunting wire is provided with means for removably attaching one end of the shunting wire to the outside of the housing with the other end of the shunting wire being removably connected to the contact spring. Also provided is a body member having a central opening extending therethrough for receiving the detonator housing with the detonator located next to an explosive load assembly. A firing head is provided which is adapted to be screwed into the other end of the body member to electrically engage the contact spring with a central contact member and to electrically connect the housing of the firing head to the body member.

Detonator assembly

A detonating cord transport package wherein a continuous length of a metal jacket detonating cord is installed on a plurality of separator-support members such that the detonating cord is formed in a plurality of loops on each separator-support member with the two end portions of each loop being in proximity to each other. In the preferred embodiment, the two end portions of each loop engage each other and cross each other as seen in a given view.

System for packaging detonating cord for transport

A detonating cord transport system is disclosed wherein detonating cord is windingly disposed on a plurality of separator-support members in such a manner that the cord is wholly accessible from a front face surface and is thus disposed without having to manipulate the separator-support members. For each separator-support member, the detonating cord is windingly disposed on a plurality of winding support devices such that there are a plurality of severing locations at frequent intervals at which severing locations there is incorporated means for stopping any detonation that occurs, with the result that such detonation will be confined to a relatively short length of detonating cord and will also be confined to the detonating cord transport system container.

System and method for packaging detonating cord for transport

A shaped charge has a case, a cap, and an O-ring. The case has first and second ends and a cavity therein. The case first end has a cylindrical first surface that circumferentially surrounds the cavity. The case second end has a bifurcated projection for receiving a portion of detonating cord. The cap also has first and second ends and cavity therein. The cap first end has a cylindrical second surface that circumferentially surrounds the cap cavity. The case and cap first ends matingly receive each other such that the first and second surfaces face each other. The first and second surfaces have respective circumferential grooves that are aligned with each other when the case and cap are assembled together. The grooves receive the O-ring, which retains the case and cap together while permitting the case to rotate relative to the cap. The cap second end is adapted to couple to a shaped charge carrier. The O-ring and groove arrangement provide a seal between the case and the cap and permit the alignment of the bifurcated projection with the shaped charge carrier while maintaining a secure coupling of the shaped charge to the carrier.

A shaped charge has provision for bleeding off internal pressure. The shaped charge has a case, a cap, and an O-ring. The case and the cap each have a first end. The case and the cap are assembled together by one of the first ends receiving the other first end. A groove is formed between the case and the cap; the groove receives the O-ring. The groove is provided with a gap on the external pressure side of the O-ring. The gap communicates with the exterior of the shaped charge. When internal pressure is greater than external pressure, the O-ring is deformd and extrudes into the gap, thereby exposing the gap to the internal pressure and allowing the internal pressure to vent out of the shaped charge. The gap is formed either by beveling an edge of the groove or by a borehole extending from a position that communicates with the exterior of the shaped charge to an opening in the groove.

Shaped charge

There is disclosed an easy to assembly detonating cord retainer arrangement for shaped charges. A portion of a length of detonating cord is laid into the slot of a bifurcated cylindrical projection located at one end of the shaped charge case. A push nut is pressed onto the projection to retain the detonating cord within the slot.
