Photoactive layers for use in a photovoltaic cell are described. The photoactive layers comprise at least one photoactive ion paired with another ion. This photoactive ion pair can be in the form of an ionic liquid, hydrogen bonded ion pair, cocrystal, or complex to allow for greater flexibility and portability. Also described are photovoltaic cells that contain the described photoactive layers sandwiched between two electrodes.

Organic photovoltaic-battery hybrid device

A vapor recovery system for an internal combustion engine is provided, the system having a fuel tank containing fuel and vapor that is in select fluid communication with an intake of the internal combustion engine, a compressor, a condensate tank, a condensate composition sensor, and an engine control unit. The engine control unit can be configured to select a desired operating mode for the internal combustion engine and to control the supply of condensate to the intake of the internal combustion engine based on the selected desired operating mode.

Silanes as a source of hydrogen

A regenerated cellulose-encapsulated active substance and a method for encapsulating an active substance in a regenerated cellulose matrix are disclosed. The distribution of the active substance is preferably substantially homogeneous within the matrix of regenerated cellulose. The regenerated cellulose (i) has about the same molecular weight as the original cellulose from which it is prepared (ii) is substantially free of added substituent groups relative to the starting cellulose and is also substantially free of entrapped ionic liquid degradation products.

Cellulose matrix encapsulation and method

A vacuum boost device is connected in line with a vacuum suction line. The boost device includes a housing connected in said vacuum line and an inlet through which air of a liquid is directed to enter into the vacuum stream to assist in the vacuum and to break debris drawn through the boost device into smaller particles.
