Aircraft fire and overheat detection systems are described. The systems include a support bracket configured to secure the system to a component of an aircraft. A terminal assembly is fixedly connected to the support bracket and includes a connection assembly and a connection cable. A sensing element is electrically connected to the terminal assembly and arranged to detect at least one of fire and heat associated with the component of the aircraft. A protective sleeve is arranged about the connection assembly and connection cable. The sleeve has a lug portion at a first end with a sealing protrusion extending radially inward, a first wire portion, and a second wire portion, with progressively smaller diameters for each portion.

A system for detecting a fire or overheating event includes a heat detector, an optical fiber, a photodetector, and a processing unit. The pneumatic heat detector includes a sealed chamber sealed with a diaphragm having an initial position, and the optical fiber is in operable communication with the diaphragm. The optical fiber includes a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG). The optical signal generator is configured to emit an optical signal with into the optical fiber. The photodetector is configured to receive a reflected optical signal from the FBG. The processing unit is configured to correlate the reflection wavelength of the reflected optical signal with a temperature of the heat detector.

A clamp fixture includes a hub extending between a first end and a second end. A first leg extends in a first direction from the first end of the hub, and a second leg extends in the first direction from the second end of the hub. At least a portion of the first leg curves away from the second leg, and at least a portion of the second leg curves away from the first leg. The clamp fixture also includes a loop with a first half and a second half. The first half includes a first jaw extending from the hub. The second half includes a flange and a second jaw extending from the flange. A fastener connects the flange to the hub such that the first jaw and the second jaw join to close the loop.

An optical signal is transmitted through the fiber optic loop from the optical controller and is also received back at the optical controller.
