A mounting system for three axis rotational adjustment of a light projector assembly of a projection television, the mounting system having a spherical wall and a spherical bracket slidably engaged with the spherical wall and moveable relative thereto. The wall and bracket coact with one another to rotate the light projector assembly about three axes, thereby restricting movement of the projector assembly to a portion of a spherical path and enabling adjustment of an image generated by the projector assembly on a screen of a projection television to a desired geometry without affecting picture centering.

A liquid crystal display television receiver projection system uses a high-intensity discharge lamp as a back lighting source. The lamp is of the type that should not be re-started or turned on immediately after being turned off. In response to a user power off command, the display screen will immediately give a false appearance of being turned off, during a first interval of, for example, 30 seconds that immediately follows the power off command. Despite the appearance of being turned off, the lamp is maintained powered on, during the first interval. Should a user issue a power on command, before the first interval has elapsed, the user will not experience any start-up delay. Should the user not issue et power on command, during the first interval, the lamp will be de-energized.

An apparatus for minimizing sound vibrations in a television cabinet is disclosed. Specifically, the apparatus reduces the amount of vibrations generated by a loudspeaker that are transmitted into a television cabinet while maximizing sound energy transmitted from the cabinet. The apparatus includes an enclosure pod for accommodating at least one loudspeaker that is mounted in the television cabinet using vibration reducing devices.

A coupler for coupling a CRT faceplate of a CRT to a lens. The coupler comprises a rigid portion having a CRT faceplate surface for coupling to the CRT faceplate and a lens surface for coupling to the lens. The coupler further comprises an elastomeric layer disposed on at least the CRT faceplate surface and lens surface of the rigid portion.

A cathode ray tube has a funnel provided with an outer conductive coating that is electrically isolated from an AC mains supply. An insulated degaussing coil is fitted to the funnel against the outer conductive coating and energized by the AC mains supply in an electrically nonisolated manner. A spring includes a resilient body forming a spring action that snugly fits the degaussing coil against the outer conductive coating. The spring includes a clip for attaching the resilient body to the degaussing coil. At least one of the clip and the resilient body is made of an insulated material for preventing the resilient body from providing a conductive path with respect to electrical shock hazard between the degaussing coil and the electrically isolated outer conductive coating.
