A clamp for securing an oversized work-piece to a milling machine table using the T-slot on the front surface of a Bridgeport-type milling machine table. The clamp, when attached to the T-slot, extends beyond the table and over it where it can be tightened down on a work-piece to hold it to the top surface of the table. The clamp includes a heel block and a clamp block held in spaced relation by a separation bolt and a tightening bolt. To mill an oversized work-piece, the clamp is inserted into the T-slot and then the separation distance of the clamp block to the heel block is adjusted by rotating the clamp block around the separation bolt until the separation distance is slightly wider than the thickness of the work-piece. The tightening bolt is then used to tighten the clamp onto the work-piece. The nose end of the heel block can be shaped to match the profile of the T-slot or can be modified to allow the nose to be rotated into the slot by rounding its corners. The blocks are formed to allow the tightening bolt to be positioned so that it is more or less close to the separation bolt in order to accommodate work-pieces of different sizes.

A system for providing medical services to a patient at a location remote to a medical practitioner comprises a patient's station and a medical practitioner's station in communication with each other. Both stations are equipped with video and audio capability allowing both the practitioner and patient to see and hear one another. A variety of devices are present at both stations that enable the transmission of information between the parties. Several monitors, located at the patient's station, enable the practitioner to measure and monitor several health related parameters. A camera is mounted in the patient's station in front of a frame that holds the patient's driver's license or other forms of identification. Images of the patient's identifying documents are transmitted to the medical practitioner station to allow positive identification. Payment for medical services rendered is accomplished by using a credit card reader in the patient's station, supplying an accepted insurance card, or by obtaining an account number from the retailer who on whose premises the patient's station is located.

A system for processing a radiograph such as an x-ray includes a scanner, a computer with monitor for displaying a digital copy of the radiograph and pet-forming a number of enhancements. The computer stores the digitized image in memory in such a way that it cannot be modified, stores temporarily a second copy of the image in random access memory for display, and stores the enhancements separately in a data file so that, each time the user wishes to see an enhanced image, the enhancements are applied to the displayed digital image as an overlay, rather than being stored as a copy of the enhanced image. Less space is required for storage when only the unenhanced image and the enhancements are stored than if the unenhanced and the enhanced images are stored. Furthermore, not only is the unenhanced image available for a variety of purposes (stored in such a way that it cannot be modified), but the enhancements that are made to produce the enhanced, displayed image are reproduced the same way each time.

Radiographic image enhancement comparison and storage requirement

Apparatus and method for evaluating a radiograph, such as an X-ray being diagnosed for chiropractic treatment. The apparatus includes a scanner, a monitor, a central processing unit, user interface equipment, a laser printer and a modem. The X-ray is scanned by the scanner that generates a series of binary values for each segment of the X-ray and representing the relative transparency of each segment. The CPU receives the binary values and constructs a bitmap corresponding to the X-ray image for display on the monitor. Then the CPU enables the user to enhance the image on the monitor to assist in extracting information related to the analysis, diagnosis and prognosis of the condition indicated by the features of the X-ray. Enhancements include increasing brightness, contrast, edge detection and histogrammic equalization. The enhanced image can be used to determine relationships among the features by their separation distance and orientation with respect to each other. The apparatus generates reports and stores the image and information extracted therefrom.
