In one example an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a low frequency radiator, a high frequency radiator, a high frequency waveguide that carries high frequency bands to the high frequency radiator, a low frequency coaxial waveguide coupled to the high frequency waveguide in a coaxial structure, wherein the low frequency coaxial waveguide carries low frequency bands to the low frequency radiator and a low frequency combiner in communication with the low frequency coaxial waveguide, wherein the low frequency combiner comprises a circular low frequency waveguide and air dielectric transmission lines formed by air channels formed above and below a plurality of printed circuits in a metal housing.

A digital video broadcast satellite (DVB-S) television antenna horn assembly, reflector antenna, and a satellite communication system in which the antenna horn includes a suspended dielectric tuning vane that reduces the horn size, modifies the shape the reception pattern, and improves the antenna performance in a number of ways. The antenna horn and the dielectric tuning vane are configured to impart a combined differential phase shift protocol, such as CP polarization, on a circular polarity (CP) signal as the CP signal propagates through the horn from a reception aperture to an output aperture. The dielectric tuning vane may be built into the antenna horn, snap into the antenna horn, be built into a protective plastic lens cover that fits over horn opening, or designed to snap into the plastic lens cover. Various dielectric tuning vanes are suitable for single horn structures and multi-horn structures built into LNB amplifiers.

A long term evolution outdoor antenna and module that provides a compact design for wide band performance is provided. In one embodiment, the antennas comprises a top element, a feed coupled to the top element, and an unbalanced communication line coupled to the feed via a bottom element, wherein a dielectric layer is formed between the bottom element and the feed.

Multi-band antennas for simultaneously communicating linear polarity low-band signals and circular polarity high-band signals via a single antenna horn structure. The antennas horn structures have circular and oblong cross-sections. Strategic location and orientation of low-band and high-band ports with respect to internal ridges in transition sections and the major and minor axes of the oblong horn allows the antenna to simultaneously manipulate the high-band circular polarity signal without affecting the linear polarity low-band signals. The oblong horn shape and ridges may apply additive or oppositely sloped differential phase shifts to the linear components of the circular polarity high-band signal. For the horns with circular cross-section, the internal ridges may apply additive or oppositely sloped differential phase shifts to polarize the circular polarity high band signals without assistance from the internal shape of the horn.

Multi-band antenna for simultaneously communicating linear polarity and circular polarity signals

A relatively low cost, easy to install and aesthetically pleasing multi-band, multi-port digital video broadcast from satellite (DVBS) elliptical horn antenna designed as part of a reflector antenna system to simultaneously receive satellite television broadcast signals with circular polarity on two frequency channels. This type antenna may be implemented with a single antenna feed horn with multiple feed horns that may be arranged separately or in one or more integral feed horn blocks. The antennas may be designed to achieve acceptable circular polarity performance over broad and multiple frequency bands through the use of oppositely sloped differential phase differential sections.

A relatively low cost, easy to install and aesthetically pleasing digital video broadcast from satellite (DVBS) elliptical horn antenna designed to receive satellite television broadcast signals with circular polarity. This type antenna may be implemented as a multi-beam, multi-band antenna with closely spaced antenna feed horns operable for simultaneously receiving signals from multiple satellites that are closely spaced from the perspective of the antenna.

According to the present invention, a waveguide assembly is provided and includes a common input waveguide aligned along a first axis. The input waveguide supports two frequency bands and one or more polarities, namely high and low band signals of two polarities which are typically supplied using a feed horn which is coaxially aligned with the input waveguide. The waveguide assembly also includes an output waveguide for supporting and discharging the low band signal (one or more polarities). The output waveguide extends along a second axis which is parallel to the first axis containing the input waveguide but is displaced therefrom. In order to accomplish this the waveguide assembly has two or more waveguides connecting the input waveguide to the output waveguide. The waveguides are disposed substantially perpendicular to the input and output waveguides such that the low band signal is fed into the input waveguide and then separated therefrom by being carried within one or more planes defined by the waveguides before being discharged through the output waveguide.

Multi-port multi-band transceiver interface assembly

A modified offset parabolic antenna is disclosed which provides improved gain when receiving satellite broadcasts from geosynchronous transmission sources spaced substantially 10 degrees apart. The surface of the reflector is defined by a Zernike expansion mapped to a unit circle. The values of the parameters of the Zernike expansion are selected to provide a shaped reflector surface which focuses beams from the three separate sources onto three focal points such that the gain of the antenna is maximized. A peak beam gain for an offset beam of substantially 33.9 dBi has been achieved.

Multi-beam antenna

A slip joint polarizer including a stationary waveguide rotatably connected to a moveable waveguide, e.g. an ortho mode transducer, by a mating interface, such as a pair of rotatable mating flanges. The moveable waveguide is rotatable with respect to the stationary waveguide to adjust at least one of receive and transmit polarity. A probe extends axially in the moveable waveguide, passing through the mating interface and into the stationary waveguide. The probe may be attached to the moveable waveguide so that the two rotate simultaneously. Alternatively, the probe may rotate independent of the moveable waveguide to adjust for transmit polarity. During installation, the moveable waveguide is rotated with respect to the stationary waveguide in order to adjust receive and/or transmit polarity. Once properly adjusted, the rotatable mating flanges are locked together to prevent movement.

Housing for antenna feed horn and transmit electronics

An ortho-mode transducer is disclosed having a common waveguide and two orthogonal port waveguides, each of which is also orthogonal to the common waveguide. Each port waveguide is coupled to the common waveguide with a coupling aperture which will pass signals having a particular polarity and cut off orthogonally polarized signals. The common waveguide is terminated in a shorting plane about one-quarter of the excepted signal wavelength from the vertical midpoint of the port waveguides. The short directs energy from the common waveguide into the port waveguides and directs energy from the port waveguides into the common waveguide.

Planar ortho-mode transducer

An improved dipole antenna array with high radiation directivity and broad bandwidth is disclosed. Each dipole antenna is driven by a balun structure composed of an unbalanced J-shaped transmission line placed over a pair of ground plane extensions that are separated by a channel. The dipole antenna arms are connected to an intermediate point on the ground plane extensions so that the balun structure extends beyond the dipole antenna. The length of the dipole arms, their position on the ground plane extensions, and the extent to which the balun extends beyond the dipole antenna can be chosen to determine the desired operating frequency range. The antennas are fabricated on ground and circuit planes separated by a dielectric material and composed of conducting material deposited on dielectric sheets. A planar array of dipole antennas is formed with the ground plane circumscribing each antenna in the array to improve directivity. An electromagnetic reflecting plane is placed parallel to the array to increase radiation efficiency.

Broad band dipole element and array

A corrugated horn having ridges disposed on the inner surface of the horn, such that the ridges are oriented parallel to the horn axis, is adapted to provide elliptical beams. When the corrugated horn is circular, the elliptical beam is produced by changing the step heights and/or ridge heights around the circumference of the horn, which in turn changes the semi-flare angle, defined as the angle made by the horn axis and a line joining the top surfaces of the ridges. Because corrugated horns constructed according to this invention have ridges oriented parallel to the horn axis, these corrugated horns are readily manufactured using conventional die casting methods or numerical machining techniques.
