An intraocular lens for providing a range of accommodative vision, an extended depth of focus, or enhanced performance through the asymmetric transfer of ocular forces to the lens. The intraocular lens contains an optic and a haptic. The shape and/or material of the haptic results in the transmission of ocular forces to particular regions in the optic. Greater forces applied to particular regions result in deformation of that region and increased power.

Intraocular lens with shape changing capability to provide enhanced accomodation and visual acuity

An intraocular lens is disclosed, with an optic that changes shape in response to a deforming force exerted by the zonules of the eye. A haptic supports the optic around its equator and couples the optic to the capsular bag of the eye. Certain haptic features improve the accommodative performance of the haptic, such that compressive/tensile forces may be more efficiently transferred from the haptic to optic. Furthermore, certain aspects also provide enhanced bag-sizing capability so that the IOL better fits within the capsular bag.

Accommodating intraocular lenses

An intraocular lens (IOL) injector for delivering an IOL into an eye of a patient includes an IOL load chamber and connected delivery tube, and a push rod for urging the IOL through the delivery tube and out of a distal tip thereof. The push rod is guided and biased against one side of the injector load chamber. The injector may include an inflatable pusher for urging the IOL through the delivery tube and out of a distal tip thereof. The inflatable pusher has a proximal end that may be open to an internal cavity of the injector, wherein a plunger movable in the injector cavity forces fluid such as air or saline into the pusher. A distal end of the pusher may be forked to capture a trailing end of the IOL, or may have a bulbous configuration to ensure the pusher does not pass the IOL.

Method and system for modifying a refractive profile associated with an eye having a recipient cornea. The method includes obtaining a corneal tissue inlay from a donor cornea, forming a recipient bed in the recipient cornea, and positioning the corneal tissue inlay into the recipient bed to correct the refractive profile of the eye with the refractive profile of the corneal tissue. The system includes a laser assembly outputting a pulsed laser beam, and a controller coupled to the laser assembly. The controller directs the laser assembly to incise a corneal tissue inlay from a donor cornea, form a recipient bed in the recipient cornea having a contour matching the contour of the inlay, register the inlay with the recipient bed, determine a position of the inlay, and determine a position change for the inlay based on the position of the inlay to align the refractive profile of the inlay with the refractive profile of the eye.
