Base for a food container includes a base member having a perimeter and a central region, a retaining ring of height H and width W formed between the perimeter and the central region, and extending upwardly from the central region, and a plurality of recesses in the retaining ring, each recess extending across the width W of the retaining ring from the perimeter toward the central region of the base member. Container further includes a lid having a perimeter configured to engage the perimeter of the base member. Method of making a food container is also provided.

Cake base with recesses

An optional venting container comprises a base and a lid. The lid is releasably latched to the base. The lid comprises at least one veritable area formed therein. The at least one veritable area is adapted to form a vent only upon a user asserting pressure thereon. The lid is made from a polymeric foam.

Containers with optional venting

A compartmentalized container includes a base, an insert and a lid. The base includes a bottom and a sidewall. The sidewall encompasses and extends generally upwardly from the bottom. The insert is coupled with the base in which the coupled insert and base form a venting area. The lid is coupled with at least one of the insert and the base. The lid forms at least one vent that is in communication with the venting area formed with the insert and the base.
