The universal flush valve system comprises an universal system connector accommodating seating thereon of both a flapper style flush valve assembly and a canister style flush valve assembly, as required; a plurality of toilet tank specific connector extensions, each of which are threadedly engageable to a bottom portion of the universal system connector and are used to suitably engage the universal system connector to a water flow port in a toilet tank by extending through the port and receiving a suitable cooperating connection element thereover; a sealing device for sealing the required flush valve assembly against the universal system connector; and a locking mechanism for locking the required flush valve assembly onto a top portion of the universal system connector, seating over the sealing device to produce a water tight engagement therebetween.

A pressure balancing cartridge for mixing hot and cold water includes a casing having a sleeve therein which further includes a reciprocating balancing spool therein. There are seal members positioned to form a seal between the sleeve and the casing. Further, a spring is incorporated to protect a balancing spool of the valve from 'water hammer' shock and to mechanically shear and digest any deposited matter in the area of the spring. Still further, by using material other than stainless steel, failure of the balancing spool is eliminated in 'bad' water environments. Finally, the seal members comprise stainless steel clips or inserts. To address issues of mechanical wear, all improvements defined above increase useful longevity of the cartridge.

The universal package for a flapper and accessories comprises a box foldable from a prescored blank and the blank from which the box is formed. Within this box isolating structures are provided to cushion and position the content, the isolating structures being variable in configuration to accommodate virtually any embodiment of flapper and any accessory therefor. The box is provided with a cover section which engages in an elevated manner over the contents to hold same in place and the package also includes viewing ports to ascertain the package content.

A self closing cartridge for a single handle faucet includes a casing having a piston therein which is held in a normally closed, up position by water pressure. There are seal members positioned to form a seal between the sleeve and the casing. Further, a spring is incorporated to assist the hydraulic self closure of the cartridge by raising the piston to a normally closed position under low water pressure conditions and to mechanically shear and digest any deposited matter in the area of the spring.

The disposal adapter comprises a seating ring, which when appropriately seated and fixed within a neck of a larger sink flange of a disposal, allows for engagement thereto of a smaller splash guard, eliminating the need to disassemble the IN-SINK-ERATOR disposal unit with the large sink flange for replacement of the splash guard thereof.

The replaceable flush valve seat assembly of the present invention comprises a circular seal which is engaged to and upon a sealing surface of a flush valve body within a tank of a toilet by a seat comprising a ring which fits over the seal and engages a circumferential lip of the flush valve body. Such seat assembly eliminates the need to dismantle a toilet to replace a flush valve body having a worn out seal surface.

The adjustable flapper comprises at least an adjustable flapper comprising at least a base to which is adjustably engaged a seal assembly including a seal, the seal depending from the base, and the seal assembly being movable in at least one desired direction relative to the base to accommodate any required distancing of the seal from a free end of the base and the seal being adjustable in angulation relative to the base.

An interdental twisted wire brush having roughened, tapered and rounded bristle ends prepared by rotating the interdental brush both transversely to the axis of the brush and axially along its longitudinal axis, while flexing the bristles and grinding the bristle ends of the interdental brush against a flat, moving abrasive surface.

An interdental toothbrush handle for holding a twisted wire brush includes a handle with a locking retainer connected thereto by a living hinge. The handle has two opposing side walls which extend perpendicularly from the handle and are adjacent to the living hinge. At least one of the walls includes a V-shaped gap for receiving the stem of a twisted wire brush. The handle also preferably has an indentation between the two opposing side walls and the locking retainer preferably includes a protrusion in communication with the indentation. A nub on the protrusion prevents the locking retainer from opening more than about 30.degree. to 40.degree.. The stem of a twisted wire brush is inserted into the V-shaped gap when the locking retainer is open. As the locking retainer is closed, the stem of the twisted wire brush is captured between the handle and locking retainer. A latch on the locking retainer passes through a hole in the handle to lock the retainer in place and hold the stem of the twisted wire brush firmly and securely.

An interdental toothbrush has a hinged locking retainer on the end of an elongated handle for capturing the stem of a twisted wire brush. The locking retainer has a hole which is adapted to receive the stem of a twisted wire brush. A land is formed in the handle adjacent the groove so that the wire brush stem is captured between that land area and a land area on the retainer. A latch on the locking retainer has a top end with a double cam surface thereon. One of the cam surfaces guides the latch into a locking position as the retainer is closed. The other of the cam surfaces releases the locking retainer when pushed.
