The present invention discloses aromatization reactor vessels with hydrogen membrane tubes, and associated aromatization reactor vessel systems. Also disclosed are processes for conducting aromatization reactions utilizing these reactor vessels and systems.

Aromatization reactors with hydrogen removal and related reactor systems

A hydrocarbon aromatization process comprising adding a nitrogenate, an oxygenate, or both to a hydrocarbon stream to produce an enhanced hydrocarbon stream, and contacting the enhanced hydrocarbon stream with an aromatization catalyst, thereby producing an aromatization reactor effluent comprising aromatic hydrocarbons, wherein the catalyst comprises a non-acidic zeolite support, a group VIII metal, and one or more halides. Also disclosed is a hydrocarbon aromatization process comprising monitoring the presence of an oxygenate, a nitrogenate, or both in an aromatization reactor, monitoring at least one process parameter that indicates the activity of the aromatization catalyst, modifying the amount of the oxygenate, the nitrogenate, or both in the aromatization reactor, thereby affecting the parameter.

Method of enhancing an aromatization catalyst

A method of extending the life of an aromatization catalyst comprising identifying a rapid deactivation threshold (RDT) of the catalyst, and oxidizing the catalyst prior to reaching the RDT. A method of aromatizing a hydrocarbon comprising identifying a rapid deactivation threshold (RDT) for an aromatization catalyst, and operating an aromatization reactor comprising the catalyst to extend the Time on Stream of the reactor prior to reaching the RDT. A xylene isomerization process includes introducing gas comprising hydrogen and a base to a reaction zone in which a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal and a zeolite support resides. In one embodiment, the base may be formed in situ within the reaction zone from nitrogen and hydrogen that are introduced to the reaction zone. In another embodiment, the base is introduced directly to the reaction zone. The conditions in the reaction zone are effective to reduce the catalyst. A stream comprising Caromatics, e.g., xylenes and ethylbenzene may then be fed to the reaction zone containing the reduced catalyst. The reaction zone may be operated at conditions effective to isomerize the xylenes and hydrodealkylate the ethylbenzene. The xylene loss during the isomerization of the xylenes is lowered as a result of using the catalyst reduced in the presence of the gas comprising a base and hydrogen.

A composition and a process for using the composition in a selective hydrogenation of a highly unsaturated hydrocarbon such as, for example, an alkyne or diolefin, to a less unsaturated hydrocarbon such as, for example, an alkene or a monoolefin, are disclosed. The composition comprising palladium, a selectivity enhancer and an inorganic support wherein the palladium and selectivity enhancer are each present in a sufficient amount to effect the selective hydrogenation of a highly unsaturated hydrocarbon. Optionally, the composition can comprise silver. Also optionally, the palladium is present as skin distributed on the surface of the support. The composition can further comprise an alkali metal-containing compound such as, for example, potassium fluoride.

Palladium containing hydrogenation catalysts

A process for decreasing the air-sensitivity of a carbon monoxide oxidation catalyst composition is provided. The process can comprise, consist essentially of, or consist of (1) heating the composition at a temperature sufficient to produce an activated composition; (2) contacting the activated composition with an oxygen-containing fluid whereby a deactivated composition is produced; and (3) contacting the deactivated composition under reducing atmosphere and at a low temperature wherein the composition can comprise, consist essentially of, or consist of platinum, iron, and an inorganic support; or can comprise, consist essentially of, or consist of palladium, platinum, iron, and an inorganic support.

Carbon monoxide oxidation catalyst and process therefor

A selective hydrogenation of an alkyne in an olefin-containing fluid is provided which comprises contacting the fluid and hydrogen gas with a catalyst in the presence of at least one sulfur compound, under reaction conditions effective to produce at least one alkene wherein the catalyst comprises at least one alkali metal, fluorine and an inorganic support material.

Selective hydrogenation process

A catalyst composition comprises palladium, at least one chemically bound alkali metal (preferably potassium), chemically bound fluorine and an inorganic support material (preferably alumina), wherein the atomic ratio of fluorine to alkali metals about 1.3:1 to about 4:1. Preferably, silver is also present in the catalyst composition. The above-described catalyst is employed as a catalyst in the selective hydrogenation of C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkynes (preferably acetylene) to the corresponding alkenes in the presence of sulfur impurities.

Alkyne hydrogenation catalyst and process

A catalyst composition comprising palladium, silver and a support material (preferably alumina) is contacted at a relatively low temperature (of up to about 60.degree. C.) with a liquid composition comprising an effective reducing agent (preferably an alkali metal borohydride, hydrazinc, formaldehyde, formic acid, ascorbic acid, dextrose, aluminum powder). Preferably, at least one alkali metal compound (more preferably KOH, RbOH, CsOH, KF) is also present in the liquid composition. An improved process for selectively hydrogenating acetylene (to ethylene) employs this wet-reduced catalyst composition.
