A hydrostatically power self-propelled concrete finishing trowel has at least two coolers in a cooling system of the machine's hydraulic circuit. In the most typical case in which the first cooler is a closed loop oil cooler, the second cooler may take the form of an open loop oil cooler disposed in a flow path connecting one or more low-pressure outlets of the hydrostatic drive system to a reservoir. The closed loop oil cooler actively drops the temperature within the trowel's hydrostatic drive system, while the open loop oil cooler supplements that cooling by reducing the oil temperature in the reservoir.

A self-propelled concrete finishing trowel has an integrated transport system that allows the towel to be moved from location to location. The transport system includes a pair of spaced wheel assemblies, each including a pair of wheels that are connected to a frame of the trowel. The wheels of each respective wheel assembly are connected to one another via a powered actuator such as a double acting hydraulic cylinder. The powered actuator is actuatable to raise and lower the first and second wheels from a stowed position in which the wheels are located above the ground and the blades are supported on the ground to a deployed position in which the wheel are supported on the ground and the blades are raised from the ground.

Concrete trowel transport system

A self-propelled concrete finishing trowel has an electronically controlled engine droop control to prevent stalling of the trowel's engine during overload conditions. The engine droop control includes an engine speed sensor that measures operating speed of the engine and a controller that adjusts operation of a hydrostatic drive system of the trowel based on feedback received from the engine speed sensor to reduce the power draw on the engine during overload conditions. The hydrostatic drive system is powered by the engine to rotate one or more finishing blade arrangements, and under normal operating conditions, is driven by a controller to rotate the blade arrangements at an operator desired speed, such as input by a foot pedal. During overloading conditions, the controller overrides the operator input to drive the hydrostatic drive system to match an operating speed supported by the overloaded engine to reduce the power draw on the engine and thereby prevent engine stalling.

Method and apparatus for controlling engine speed of a self-propelled power trowel during high load conditions

A self-propelled concrete finishing trowel has a power steering system that facilitates operator selection of a desired steering performance response of the trowel. The power steering system includes a controller that communicates operator steering instructions from one or more joysticks and the powered actuators associated with the driven shafts. A selector allows the operator to select one or more preset steering modes, each of which has a different set of steering response characteristics for a given range of joystick motion.

A self-propelled concrete finishing trowel has a transport system or dolly that allows the towel to be moved manually. The transport system includes wheels that are connected to a frame of the trowel by a connector such as a rotatable shaft. A single lift device such as a jack is coupled to the connector such that operation of the lift device translates both wheels relative to the frame. The transport system allows a user to quickly deploy the wheels for non-use transportation. The wheels are also located within the footprint of the trowel so as not to interfere with a finishing operation and are positioned to maximize stability.

A wrap material dispensing system for a round baler includes a wrap material drive system for advancing wrap material from a supply roll to a wrap material feeding arrangement, and a selectively operable knife mechanism for severing the wrap material. The wrap material drive arrangement includes a pair of rollers that are driven by a motor. The knife mechanism is mounted to a pivotable shaft to which a one-way knife actuating clutch is mounted. A flexible drive member, such as a chain, is engaged with a rotatable output member of the drive motor, and with the one-way knife actuating clutch and a driven one of the wrap material drive rollers. Operation of the motor to rotate the motor output member in a first direction causes advancement of the wrap material, and the one-way knife actuating clutch is configured to maintain the knife mechanism in an inoperable rest position during advancement of the wrap material. When a desired amount of wrap material has been dispensed, the motor is operated to rotate the motor output member in a second direction opposite the first direction, to engage the one-way knife actuating clutch and to move the knife mechanism from the inoperative rest position to an operative cutting position, to sever the wrap material. The wrap material drive roller includes an overrunning clutch that allows rapid advancement of the wrap material when the wrap material is engaged with the wrap material feeding arrangement, and which enables the motor to be operated to rotate the motor output member in the second direction while the wrap material is being dispensed, to sever the wrap material by operation of the knife mechanism.

Net material feeding and cutting system for an agricultural round baler

An operation sensor for a wrap material dispensing system of a round baler. The operation sensor includes a rotatable member with which the wrap material is engaged, and which rotates along with the wrap material as the wrap material is fed to a wrap material feeding arrangement for introduction into the round baler. Rotation of the rotatable member is detected by a sensing arrangement, which is interconnected with a visual display for providing a user with a visual indication as to the rate of advancement of the wrap material.

An overload and overfill protection system for a round baler includes a selectively engageable drive mechanism located between a rotary input member of the baler and an input driven member, such as a sprocket, which drives a pickup mechanism forming a part of the round baler. The selectively engageable drive mechanism includes a fixed drive member mounted to the rotary input member, and a shiftable engagement member mounted to the sprocket for movement between an engaged position for transferring power to the pickup mechanism, and a disengaged position in which power from the rotary input member is not transferred to the sprocket. The fixed drive member is in the form of a shear bolt, which is sheared by an overload force applied to the engagement member when the pickup mechanism is overloaded so as to disable the pickup mechanism. The overfill protection system is in the form of a clutching mechanism interconnected between a movable member of the baler, e.g. the baler takeup shuttle, and a trip member located adjacent the shiftable engagement member for moving the engagement member to a disengaged position when the takeup shuttle is in a position corresponding to a full bale condition for the baler. Movement of the shiftable member to the disengaged position prevents the transfer of power to the pickup drive system, to prevent additional crop material from being supplied to the baler.

Combination overload and overfill protection system for a round baler

A crop material feeding and directing system for use with an agricultural implement having a crop pickup which is wider than a crop inlet associated with the agricultural implement. A lower roller member includes a central portion which extends across the crop inlet, and auger sections at its ends located outwardly of the crop inlet. A pair of upper stub augers are located above the end auger sections of the lower roller member. The stub augers and the end auger sections of the lower roller member cooperate to inwardly direct crop material which is supplied by the pickup mechanism to a location outwardly of the crop inlet, and the central portion of the lower roller member functions to move the inwardly directed crop material rearwardly into the crop inlet.
