A spacer device for incorporation into a bent-tube heat exchanger that includes a spine and a plurality of fingers that protrude from one side of the spine. The number of fingers in the spacer device is less than the number of tubes that are folded in a region to form the bent-tube heat exchanger. The plurality of fingers are configured to exert a force against the tubes and to provide and maintain a separation between the tubes in the folded region. A heat exchanger that includes the spacer device may also include a coating on the tubes in the folded region in order to reduce corrosion and increase the life-time of the heat exchanger. The method of forming the heat exchanger includes placing the spacer device between the tubes, such that the fingers lay on the tubes in the region to be folded and assist in the folding process.

A heat exchanger is provided. The heat exchanger includes a plurality of manifolds and first and second pluralities of tubes that extend between different pairs of the plurality of manifolds. The heat exchange tubes each include a heat exchange portion extending along a straight direction, an outlet portion extending a transverse axis and a transition portion that connects the heat exchange portion to the outlet portion, wherein the transition portion transitions simultaneously in the transverse direction and along an offset axis, wherein the changing direction has vector components along both the transverse axis and the offset axis along the length of the transition portion. Wherein an end of the heat exchange as a jog region that comprises a bend along the offset axis.

Multiple tube heat exchanger

A heat exchanger for use in an outdoor environment with a heat pump system is provided. The heat exchanger includes a first set of tubes arranged in a parallel flow manner between a first manifold and a second manifold, wherein central straight portions of adjacent tubes are disposed with a space therebetween along each tube of the first set of tube between the first and second manifolds. A second set of tubes are arranged in a parallel flow manner between a third manifold and a fourth manifold, wherein central straight portions of adjacent tubes within the second set of tubes are at least partially disposed within the space between adjacent tubes of the first set of tubes. A fluid that flows through the first set of tubes additionally flows through the second set of tubes before the fluid returns to again flow through the first set of tubes.

Dual heat exchanger for heat pump system

A heat exchanger system for transferring heat between two fluids that includes at least two heat exchangers each having a top and bottom. The heat exchangers include a fluid collector, multiphase distributor, and a plurality of multi-duct tubes coupled therewith. One fluid flows around the multi-duct tubes, while the other fluid flows within the multi-duct tubes, with heat transfer occurring via a fluidically separate coupling of the fluids. One heat exchanger is configured with an upward flow design, for heating, in which the two fluids flow opposite to gravity and parallel to each other through the heat exchanger (bottom to top). The other heat exchanger is configured with a downward flow design, for cooling, in which one fluid flows opposite to gravity through the heat exchanger (bottom to top) and the other fluid flows anti-parallel to the one fluid with gravity through the heat exchanger (top to bottom).

A tube body for a heat exchanger includes an outer cover and intermediate walls arranged in the outer cover, which within the outer cover limit passages that are separated from one another in a width direction and can be flowed through in a longitudinal direction. An increased stability of the tube body with reduced weight at the same time is obtained in that a wall thickness running in the width direction of at least one inner intermediate wall, which is arranged between in the width direction outer intermediate walls, that is greater than the wall thickness of the respective outer intermediate wall. In addition, a heat exchanger having such a tube body, a motor vehicle and a building having such a heat exchanger are provided.

A heat exchanger has an upper manifold with a first curved section; a lower manifold spaced from and extending parallel to the upper manifold and having a second curved section; a plurality of refrigerant tubes, and a plurality of corrugated fins. Each corrugated fin is formed by a strip having radiused portions alternating with planar portions, and the radiused portions are in contact with the respective adjacent refrigerant tubes. Each of the fins has a curve-inner edge and a curve outer edge and at least one edge of the curve-inner edge and the curve outer edge of at least one fin has a recessed portion in the planar portions that is recessed inward toward a center of the core.

Curved heat exchanger and method of manufacturing

A heat exchanger () for thermally coupling a first fluid to a second fluid so as to transfer heat and in a fluidically separate manner includes a securing assembly () of two cover parts () and at least one, preferably a plurality of guide parts (), through which duct tubes () of the heat exchanger () pass. The duct tubes () extend inside a housing tube () along the longitudinal axis of the housing tube (). The first fluid passes through the housing tube () outside of the duct tubes (), and the second fluid passes through the duct tubes (). The duct tubes () may have circular or flattened cross-sections.

A heat exchanger () includes a fluid collector () for receiving fluid, a multiphase distributor () for distributing fluid, a first flow path (), and a plurality of multi-duct tubes (), which each have a duct tube longitudinal axis () and which each lead into the multiphase distributor () and into the fluid collector () by forming an orifice (). A second flow path () leads respectively through the multi-duct tubes (), the fluid collector (), and the multiphase distributor (), wherein the multi-duct tubes () extend through the first flow path () for the first fluid, so that the first fluid can flow around and the second fluid can flow through the multi-duct tubes ().

An evaporator for an air conditioning system includes an inlet manifold, an outlet manifold and a plurality of refrigerant tubes. The refrigerant tubes hydraulically communicate with the inlet manifold and the outlet manifold for a refrigerant flow. The inlet manifold includes a distributor tube with a plurality of orifices for equally aliquoting two phase refrigerant inside the inlet manifold. A mandrel is provided inside the distributor tube and a portion of the distributor tube with the inserted mandrel is flattened and bent toward an inlet port of the distributor tube for fitting the distributor tube within the inlet manifold. The mandrel is inserted into the distributor tube for preventing the distributor tube from collapsing when the distributor tube is flattened and bent.

A condenser having a receiver for use in an air conditioning system, having a plurality of refrigerant tubes, at least one header in hydraulic communication with the plurality of refrigerant tubes, and a receiver housing connected to the header. The receiver housing includes a refrigerant conduit nested within the spine of a desiccant bag. The spine divided the desiccant bag into two desiccant compartments, which are folded over the refrigerant conduit such that the desiccant compartments urge the refrigerant conduit onto the spine, thereby holding the desiccant bag in a predetermined position.

A sub-cooled condenser for an air conditioning system, having a condenser portion, a sub-cooler portion located below that of the condenser portion, an adjacent receiver tank having a first fluid port in hydraulic connection with the condenser portion and a second fluid port in hydraulic connection with the sub-cooler portion, and a refrigerant diverter assembly disposed in the receiver tank. The refrigerant diverter assembly is configured to divert a refrigerant from the first fluid port to a location beneath the surface level of a refrigerant retained within the receiver tank without impacting the surface level. The refrigerant diverter assembly includes a refrigerant port in hydraulic connection with the first fluid port, axial and annular refrigerant passageways, and a refrigerant conduit having an inlet end in hydraulic communication with the annular passageway and a second fluid port beneath the surface level (S) of the liquid phase refrigerant.

A sub-cooled condenser for an air conditioning system includes a condenser portion, a sub-cooler portion located below that of the condenser portion, an integral receiver tank having an upper receiver first chamber with a first fluid port in hydraulic connection with the condenser portion and a lower receiver second chamber having a second fluid port in hydraulic connection with the sub-cooler portion, and a refrigerant conduit disposed in the receiver tank. The refrigerant conduit may include a top entry end extending into the upper receiver first chamber and a bottom discharge end extending in the lower receiver second chamber, wherein the bottom discharge end may extend below the second fluid port. The condenser portion may include multiple passes in which the refrigerant flows in an upward direction from the inlet of the condenser portion to the first fluid port that is in hydraulic connection to the upper receiver first chamber.

A condenser for an air conditioning system includes a receiver integrally formed with a second, or return, header which is in fluid communication with a second, or sub-cooling, group of tubes. A conduit extends between entry and discharge ends both of which are completely enclosed within the interior of the receiver. The conduit transports a refrigerant fluid in an upflow direction within the interior of the receiver and through a second fluid port located adjacent the discharge end of the conduit for directing the fluid into and through the return header to the sub-cooling group of tubes.

A mounting system for a heat exchanger assembly consisting of a plastic bracket secured to the heat exchanger after brazing and requires no additional fasteners. The bracket includes a pair of arms that extend over a reinforcement member and engage a core. The first arm presents a resilient finger extending in a cantilever fashion to a protrusion presenting a ramp. The ramp allows the finger to flex outward as the bracket is assembled over the reinforcement member until the ramp snaps over and engages an edge on the reinforcement member. A notch and hole on the reinforcement member align with a male post and a second section of the bracket to limit movement of the bracket relative to the heat exchanger assembly. The arms have aligned openings, to create an airway through the bracket.

A condenser for an air conditioning system includes a core assembly having a header tank and a receiver/dehydrator member operably connected to the core assembly for condensing a refrigerant flowing internally. The receiver/dehydrator or receiver member includes two openings to receive male couplers extending from a tubular member connected to the core assembly. The condenser includes a coupler that extends into the receiver/dehydrator member between each opening and the male couplers to form a seal therebetween. The coupler and the male coupler are connected one with the other by brazing. In an alternative embodiment, the male coupler includes a snap-in element to engage the male coupler with the coupler.
