Systems and apparatuses related to the field of cardiac resuscitation, and in particular to devices for assisting rescuers in the administration of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are described herein. The system includes an adhesive pad configured to be adhered to at least a portion of a patient's chest, a sensor configured to be placed on the patient's chest and to measure at least one chest compression parameter during CPR treatment, and a landing pad having a coupling surface at least partially surrounding the sensor and configured for maintaining adherence with an active compression decompression device, the adherence sufficient to transfer decompression force between the active compression decompression device and the patient's chest during the CPR treatment.

The present invention relates to surgical retractors and devices for stabilizing a predetermined area of the body during a surgical procedure, more particularly to surgical retractors and stabilizing devices used in connection with minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting surgical procedures, and more specifically to surgical retractors and stabilizing devices especially configured for use with each other for such surgical procedures wherein the retractor includes an external rail system which enables the surgeon to position a stabilization arm having first and second shaft segments on either of the arms or the rack segment of the retractor and also includes a connector which is spaced apart from the sled member and stabilization device to releasably control the movement and rotation of the stabilization device with respect to the stabilization arm and the rotation of the stabilization arm with respect to the retractor actuation of a single knob or actuator.

Segmented arm assembly for use with a surgical retractor and instruments and methods related thereto

An endoscope having an objective lens, a zoom lens, a solid state imaging device for picking up the image formed by said objective lens and transferred by said zoom lens, and control means for moving the zoom lens and the imaging device so as to assure that for each position occupied by the zoom lens the imaging device is positioned so that the its image-receiving surface is in the focal plane of the zoom lens. The endoscope also comprises first and second motion-transmitting means for moving said zoom lens and said imaging device respectively along the optical axis of said objective lens, whereby the axial spacing between said zoom lens and said objective lens and also the axial spacing between said imaging device and said objective lens may be changed, and manually operable switch means for controlling movement of the zoom lens and the imaging device by said first and second motion transmitting means. The control means also comprises means for sensing the position of said zoom lens and said imaging device along the optical axis of the endoscope, a lookup table containing data as to the spacing required to be maintained between said imaging device and said zoom lens in order for the focal plane of said zoom lens to be located substantially at the image-receiving surface of said imaging device for various positions of said zoom lens system, means for accessing said data, and means for moving said zoom lens system and/or said imaging device in accordance with the accessed data.
