A rotating retractable step system positioned within a cutout of a wall is presented. The rotating retractable step system comprises a foot pedal and a support shaft. The foot pedal is configured to be stowed in a vertical orientation within the cutout of the wall, and to rotate between the vertical orientation and a horizontal orientation. The support shaft is associated with the foot pedal, such that movement of the support shaft extends the foot pedal outwardly away from the cutout, or retracts the foot pedal towards the cutout.

Rotating retractable step system

A compartment door of a galley within an internal cabin of a vehicle (such as an aircraft) includes a front panel having a front outer surface, and a footstep system secured to the front panel. The footstep system is moveable between a retracted position and an extended support position. The footstep system is vertically oriented in the retracted position. The footstep system outwardly extends and folds to provide a step surface in the extended support position.

Galley footstep systems and methods

An aircraft passenger seat assembly as described herein is formed from two primary and modular components: a structural frame that provides passenger support and dynamic load paths for the seat assembly; and a comfort frame that provides the passenger seating surface and the external upholstery layer for the seat assembly. If the seat assembly is designed for multiple passengers, then a separate comfort frame is used for each passenger seat location. The structural frame can be formed as a molded composite construction, and the comfort frame can also utilize a molded composite support frame. The support frame is used as a mounting shell for a fabric carrier that includes the external upholstery layer. The modular design and use of composite materials results in a significant weight and parts count savings relative to conventional seat designs.

Modular passenger seat for an aircraft

A system for preventing the sudden depressurization of a compartment in an aircraft from causing structural damage or damage to other critical aircraft components. The system includes a pivotable closure. Normally, this closure is latched across a passage between a pressurized compartment such as a passenger cabin and a dump such as the space between the cabin wall and the outer skin of the aircraft. In the event that pressure is suddenly lost in a second pressurized compartment such as a cargo hold beneath the floor of the passenger compartment, a pressure differential is created across a flap-type latch actuator carried by the closure. This rotates the actuator, disengaging an actuator-associated latch element from a fixedly mounted keeper and thereby allowing the closure to be swung to an open position by outrushing air. This makes the entire area of the passage to the dump available for the outflow of air. As a consequence, the pressure between the two compartments is rapidly equalized, keeping the floor of the passenger compartment from collapsing and preventing damage to critical aircraft components routed beneath the floor or through the aircraft body such as control cables, electrical leads, and hydraulic lines.
