A method of rationalizing operation of a vehicle wheel speed sensor is provided. The method includes the steps of receiving an output signal from a longitudinal accelerometer, receiving an output signal from a wheel speed sensor, determining whether an acceleration event exists based on the output signal from the longitudinal accelerometer, evaluating the wheel speed sensor output signal during the acceleration event, and determining whether the wheel speed sensor signal exceeds a set threshold value during the acceleration event.

A method for controlling driveline torque on an electrified powertrain based on obstacle detection is provided. The electrified powertrain includes a first eMotor, a second eMotor and an internal combustion engine (ICE). An obstacle is detected proximate to the vehicle. A proximity signal is communicated to a first torque module that determines a first torque limit. A road surface is detected. A traction limit signal is communicated to a second torque module that determines a second torque limit. A road curvature is detected. A curvature signal is communicated to a third torque module that determines a third torque limit. A safety tolerance is determined based on the first, second and third torque limit. A first torque request is communicated to the ICE. A second torque request is communicated to the first eMotor. A third torque request is communicated to the second eMotor.

An automatic engine stop-start (ESS) system for a vehicle with an internal combustion engine includes a brake pedal, a gear shifter configured to shift a transmission between park, reverse, neutral, and drive, and a controller. The controller is configured to command an ESS engine stop when the gear shifter is in drive, the vehicle is stopped, and the brake pedal is pressed, prevent an ESS engine restart when the gear shifter is shifted from drive to park, and provide, when the ESS engine restart is prevented, a warning notification to a driver that the engine is keyed-on.

A system and method of diagnosing a clutch pedal position sensor of a vehicle includes determining if a speed of the vehicle speed is less than a first predetermined speed, recording a maximum clutch pedal voltage, determining if a vehicle launch event is in progress, recording a minimum clutch pedal voltage, determining a voltage difference between the maximum clutch pedal voltage and the minimum clutch pedal voltage, and declaring a clutch pedal position sensor fault based on a comparison between the voltage difference and a threshold voltage.

In a method, a brake torque signal provided by an electronic control unit of an anti-lock braking system is validated. The brake torque signal is enabled for use as a brake event input signal upon being successfully validated for diagnostic and control routines of the vehicle that use the brake torque signal as a brake event input signal. If the brake torque signal fails validation, it is disabled for such use. The brake torque signal is validated by first rationalizing a brake pedal position signal and a master cylinder pressure signal. Once the brake pedal position signal is successfully rationalized with the master cylinder pressure signal, the brake pedal position signal is rationalized with the brake torque signal. The brake torque signal is successfully validated when both rationalizations are successful. The validation fails if either rationalization fails.

A diagnostic system for a crankcase ventilation system of a boosted engine includes a pressure sensor (i) disposed in-line along a make-up air (MUA) hose of the crankcase ventilation system and (ii) configured to measure a pressure in the MUA hose, the MUA hose connecting an induction system of the engine to a crankcase of the engine. The diagnostic system also includes a controller configured to: detect a mild acceleration operating condition of the engine; and in response to detecting the mild acceleration operating condition: obtain a plurality of pressure samples based on the measured pressure by the pressure sensor, compare the plurality of pressure samples to a fault threshold indicative of a disconnected MUA hose, and based on the comparing, generate a fault signal indicative of a disconnected MUA hose.
