Disclosed are various embodiments relating to generating media item recommendations based upon determining a beats per minute value. A media recommendation application determines a beats per minute value based upon a pacing measurement of the user. The media recommendation application then identifies one or more media item having a beats per minute that is similar to the beats per minute value. The media recommendation application then identifies a subset of the media item candidates to surface as recommendations for the user.

Generating media recommendations based upon beats per minute

Disclosed are various embodiments for generating event recommendations. Embodiments of the disclosure identify an event associated with a location and an artist. An artist recommendation corresponding to the artist is generated for users based upon the media consumption of the users. An event recommendation corresponding to the event is generated for users near the location. A level of demand for the event is determined based upon a conversion rate.

Generating event recommendations based upon media consumption

Disclosed are various embodiments relating to generating media item recommendations based upon determining a beats per minute value. A media recommendation application determines a beats per minute value based upon the activity of a user. The media recommendation application then identifies one or more media item candidates having a number of beats per minute within a predefined delta of the beats per minute value. The media recommendation application then filters out the media items possessed and information associated with the user to identify a subset of the media item candidates to surface as recommendations.

Disclosed are various embodiments for generating event recommendations. Embodiments of the disclosure obtain media consumption events corresponding to media consumption in a media player user interface. A pattern of media consumption for the user is identified. An artist recommendation is generated based upon the media consumption. An event recommendation is generated corresponding to the artist.

Disclosed are various embodiments for presenting content items that are related to media items that are currently being consumed by a user. A media item in a stream of media items being presented to a user is identified. A content item that is relevant to the media item is determined. An entry is added to the entries of a relevant content listing. The entry includes a link to the content item. The entries in the relevant content listing are chronologically correlated to the stream that is being presented to the user. The relevant content listing is updated in a user interface that is being presented to the user.

Presenting content related to current media consumption

A media player user interface on behalf of a user associated with a user account is generated that has a social network module that includes media updates associated with other users to which the user is linked. Media player actions associated with the user occurring in the media player user interface are also captured, updates are generated and provided to social network modules in a media player user interface associated with other linked users.

A media player user interface on behalf of a user associated with a user account is generated that has a social network module that includes music updates associated with other users to which the user is linked. Media player actions associated with the user occurring in the media player user interface are also captured, updates are generated and provided to social network modules in a media player user interface associated with other linked users.
