A system for data transmission for an explosive environment comprises an ultrasonic transmitter coupled to a Class 1 device disposed inside an explosive risk zone and adapted to generate an electric signal in response to a predetermined condition, the ultrasonic transmitter being configured to generate and transmit an ultrasonic signal in response to receiving the electric signal, an ultrasonic receiver disposed outside the explosive risk zone configured to receive the ultrasonic signal, and an uplink communication device adapted to communicate an alert to a remote operator in response to the ultrasonic receiver receiving the ultrasonic signal.

Wireless ultrasonic data transmission for explosive environments

A personal safety response system comprises a wearable device to be worn by a user, the wearable device includes a speaker configured for generating audio notification, an exterior visual indicator configured for generating visual notification, a vibrator configured for generating haptic notification, a panic button, a radio frequency transceiver, and a controller configured to recognize a first set of predetermined conditions, and transmit a notification to a base telephone. The base telephone includes a radio frequency transceiver configured for two-way communication with the wearable device, and transmit and receive data over the telecommunication network and Internet, a memory, a processor configured to recognize a second set of predetermined conditions, and transmit a notification to the wearable device, a user input device configured to receive user input, and a display screen configured to display information associated with the notification transmitted to the wearable device.

Personal safety response system and method

A computer-based processing system (e.g., host server) is operable for receiving historical device operation information (power consumption data) collected during operation of the remote battery-operated device in accordance with a first set of operating parameters. The first set of operating parameters enable operation of the battery-operated device in a first operating mode. The processing system calculates an observed battery life for the device based on the received historical power consumption data and a power capacity value representing a power capacity of the battery resident in the device. This observed battery life may be output to a user and used to determine whether the device will meet a predetermined operational life. If not, parameters for the device can be modified and a new projected battery life calculated (simulation), with the new modified parameters controlling power consumption in the device.

Methods and apparatus for modeling, monitoring, simulating and controlling power consumption in battery-operated devices

A remote battery-operated device operates in accordance with a first set of operating parameters. During operation, power consumption information is generated and transmitted via a data network to a remote location for later use. In one embodiment, the remote location transmits one or more modified parameters back to the battery-operated device which control subsequent operation of the device. In this manner, power consumption within the device may be controlled to achieve a predetermined or desired operating lifetime.
