In some aspects, the present disclosure provides methods for identifying a disease in an epithelial tissue of a subject. Methods for identifying a disease in an epithelial tissue comprise the generation of a depth profile of the epithelial tissue using signals generated from the tissue by pulses of light directed towards a surface of the epithelial tissue. In some aspects, the present disclosure provides apparatuses consistent with the methods herein.

Non-invasive detection of skin disease

A peripheral nerve stimulator to stimulate a peripheral nerve to treat essential tremor and other movement disorders, as well as overactive bladder, cardiac dysfunction and neurotransmitter dysfunction is provided. The peripheral nerve stimulator can be a noninvasive surface stimulator to provide multi-modal optimized therapy. Stimulation can be vibrational, electromechanical, thermal, radiant, electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic, light, mechanical, chemical, thermal, ultrasonic, radiofrequency (RF), acoustic, infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray, and/or microwave. Stimulation can be delivered using an open loop system and/or a closed loop system with feedback. Stimulation can be to one site or multiple sites.

Multi-modal stimulation for treating tremor

A training method is provided to train changing muscle contribution in a human subject while the human subject is performing a complex movement. Feedback is provided in a simple understandable fashion by one or more data points calculated based on electromyography signals obtained over e.g. a stance phase of a walking cycle. The training method showed a significantly increased training effect in subjects performing these complex movements where these subjects were able to change the muscle activation given a specific goal. The training could be setup of a single muscle or multiple muscles. The data point feedback could be a measure for the single muscle or some relative measure for the multiple muscles. The training method results in improved coordination strategies and could be useful for retraining purposes as well as intervention methods for musculoskeletal pathologies or movement disorders.

Real-time electromyography feedback to change muscle activity during complex movements

A peripheral nerve stimulator can be used to stimulate a peripheral nerve to treat essential tremor, Parkinson tremor, and other forms of tremor. The peripheral nerve stimulator can be either a noninvasive surface stimulator or an implanted stimulator. Stimulation can be electrical, mechanical, or chemical. Stimulation can be delivered using either an open loop system or a closed loop system with feedback.

Devices and methods for controlling tremor

A system and method for providing therapy to a patient can include a monitoring unit and a therapy unit. The monitoring unit can have a user interface and one or more sensors to measure patient data. The therapy unit can have a stimulator for generating electrical stimulation and a microcontroller for controlling the generation of the electrical stimulation based on the measured patient data.

Systems and methods for peripheral nerve stimulation to treat tremor with detachable therapy and monitoring units

A device for weight management includes a platform, a weight sensor configured to measure a weight of a user when the user is positioned on the platform, an input mechanism configured to receive input related to target weight of the user, a converter configured to convert the measured weight to a non-numerical output based upon the input, and a display configured to provide the non-numerical output to the user without providing the measured weight to the user.

Systems and methods that provide a positive experience during weight management

The stimulator can have electrodes that are placed circumferentially around the patient's wrist or arm. Specific nerves in the wrist or arm can be targeted by appropriate spacing of the electrodes. Positioning the electrodes on generally opposing sides of the target nerve can result in improved stimulation of the nerve. The stimulation pattern may alternate between the nerves. Improved stimulation algorithms can incorporate tremor feedback, external data, predictive adaptation, and long-term monitoring data.

The present disclosure provides methods and apparatuses for identifying and/or analyzing a muscle tissue of a subject. An apparatus for identifying and/or analyzing muscle tissue of the present disclosure may comprise an optical element comprising an excitation probe and a collection probe. A method for identifying or analyzing muscle tissue of the present disclosure may comprise the generation of images of a muscle tissue using signals generated from the tissue by a beam of light directed towards the muscle tissue from the excitation probe and collected by the collection probe. Signals collected by the collection probe may include forward second harmonic generation signals.
