A robotic arm system can include a robot including a robot flange, a mask coupled to the robot flange, a ventilator coupled to the mask, and one or more controllers operable to change a pose of the robot flange. The controllers are further operable to deliver gas from the ventilator to the mask. The robot can include the ventilator. The robotic arm system can include a gas tube coupled to the mask and the ventilator, wherein the gas tube is configured to carry gas between the ventilator and the mask. The robotic arm system can include a computer vision system, one or more biometric sensor systems, and/or a sensing system. The ventilator can be a positive airway pressure ventilator. The mask can be a nasal mask, a mouth mask, or a face mask.

Automatic placement of a mask

An image-guided robotic system for advancing a penetrating member into a body lumen located beneath a skin surface of a patient, the image-guided robotic system comprising: a detector for obtaining data representative of a location of the body lumen beneath the skin surface of the patient; a robotic arm comprising: a penetrating member; a linear actuator for linearly advancing the penetrating member into the body lumen; a vibrational actuator for vibrating the penetrating member at a selected frequency; a processor in communication with the detector, the linear actuator and the vibrational actuator, the processor being configured to: (i) receive the data representative of the location of the body lumen from the detector; (ii) calculate the distance to a preselected target point within the body lumen; (iii) transmit linear advancement instructions to the linear actuator to linearly advance the penetrating member through the skin surface, through tissue between the skin surface and the body lumen and into the preselected target point within the body lumen, wherein the linear advancement instructions comprise the speed and distance required for the linear actuator to advance the penetrating member through the skin surface, through tissue between the skin surface and the body lumen and into the body lumen at the preselected target point within the body lumen; (iv) transmit vibrational instructions to the vibrational actuator to vibrate the penetrating member; and (v) automatically modify at least one of the linear advancement instructions and the vibrational instructions in order to account for resistance encountered by the penetrating member during advancement of the penetrating member through the skin surface, through the tissue between the skin surface and the body lumen and into the preselected target point within the body lumen, wherein at least one of the linear advancement instructions and the vibrational instructions is modified to mitigate deformation of the body lumen as the penetrating member advances through the skin surface, through tissue between the skin surface and the body lumen and into the preselected target point within the body lumen.

A method includes: obtaining a desired value for a parameter relevant to the automatic delivery of breathable gas; saving, by the system, the desired parameter value; finding, by the system, an actual value of the parameter; querying, by the system, whether the actual parameter value agrees with the desired parameter value; determining, by the system, that the actual parameter value does not agree with the desired parameter value; adjusting, by the system, a system setting so as to attain the desired parameter value; querying, by the system, whether the actual revised parameter value agrees with the desired parameter value; and repeating, by the system, the steps of determining, adjusting, and querying whether the actual revised parameter value agrees with the desired parameter value until the actual revised parameter value agrees with the desired parameter value.

Robotic ventilation method configured for automatic gas delivery

A method includes generating a surgical plan for installation of a structure at a bone and controlling a controllable guide structure to guide a cutting tool to sculpt the bone and the structure based on the surgical plan. Sculpting the bone provides the bone with a bone mating surface and sculpting the structure provides the structure with a structure mating surface. The method also includes installing the structure on the bone by engaging the structure mating surface of the structure with the bone mating surface of the bone.

System and method for preparing bone

A method includes providing a handheld manipulator, a surgical tool coupled to the handheld manipulator, and a mechanical arm, affecting, with the handheld manipulator connected to the mechanical arm, motion of the surgical tool by operating a motor of the handheld manipulator, and affecting, with the handheld manipulator disconnected from the mechanical arm, the motion of the surgical tool by operating the motor of the handheld manipulator.

Systems and methods for handheld robotic surgery

A robotic system for preparing a bone to repair a bone fracture, includes a controllable guide structure configured to guide preparation of at least one bone piece during execution of a surgical plan and a control system configured to define the surgical plan. Defining the surgical plan includes determining a desired relationship between at least a first bone piece and a second bone piece that are separated by the bone fracture and planning preparation of the first bone piece to include a prepared anatomical structure configured to align the first bone piece with the second bone piece such that when aligned, the first bone piece and the second bone piece will achieve the desired relationship. The control system is further configured to control the controllable guide structure according to the surgical plan.

A system for calibrating alignment of two or more types of magnetic sensors in a virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) display device. The system can include a controller, a waveform generator, a magnetic field generating unit, and an electrical driver. The controller can cause the waveform generator to generate a first calibration waveform to calibrate a first type of magnetic sensor in the display device, and to generate a second calibration waveform to calibrate a second type of magnetic sensor in the display device.

A robotic surgery method for cutting a bone of a patient includes characterizing the geometry and positioning of the bone and manually moving a handheld manipulator, the handheld manipulator operatively coupled to a bone cutting tool having an end effector portion, to cut a portion of the bone with the end effector portion. The handheld manipulator further comprises a manipulator housing and an actuator assembly movably coupled between the manipulator housing and the bone cutting tool. The method further includes causing the actuator assembly to automatically move relative to the manipulator housing to maintain the end effector portion of the tool within a desired bone cutting envelope in response to movement of the manipulator housing relative to the bone.

A system for calibrating alignment of two or more sensors in a virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) display device, the two or more sensors in the display device including at least one magnetic sensor. The system can include a first pair of conductive loops oriented in parallel planes and spaced apart along a first axis. The system can also include a mount configured to attach to the display device and to support the display device in a first predetermined spatial relationship with respect to the first pair of conductive loops.

System and method for robotic surgery

A robotic surgery method includes tracking a position of a surgical tool as it is manually manipulated to perform a procedure. The tool is coupled to a handheld manipulator assembly, and the handheld manipulator assembly includes a handheld portion configured to be manually supported and moved by a user and a tool drive assembly supported by the handheld portion. The manipulator assembly further includes a plurality of elongate structural members coupled between the tool drive assembly and the handheld portion, at least one pivotal link arranged between the tool drive assembly and the plurality of elongate structural members, a plurality of lead screws and actuators supported by the handheld portion, and a controller in communication with the plurality of actuators. The method further includes selectively operating the actuators to move the tool drive assembly relative to the handheld portion based on the tracked position of the tool.

A system for calibrating alignment of magnetic and optical sensors in a virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) device. The system can include a controller, a waveform generator, and an electrical driver. The waveform generator can produce calibration waveforms under control of the controller. The system can also include conductive loops which are energized with electrical currents corresponding to the calibration waveforms. The controller can cause the waveform generator to generate a first calibration waveform to calibrate a first type of magnetic sensor in the display device, and to generate a second calibration waveform to calibrate a second type of magnetic sensor in the display device. The system may also include one or more optical fiducial markers in a known spatial relationship with respect to the conductive loops. The optical fiducial markers can be used to calibrate the alignment direction of one or more optical sensors.

A prosthetic device includes one or more components configured to be disposed in a joint. The component includes at least one feature configured to provide information about the component. The information can be used to determine or create the relationship between the component and the joint and/or other components. This relationship may be used to evaluate and/or modify the expected performance of the prosthetic device and assist in determining the optimal relationship between one or more components and a patient's anatomy.

A robotic system for preparing a bone to receive a prosthetic device. The robotic system includes a controllable guide structure configured to guide cutting of the bone into a shape for receiving the prosthetic device, and a computer readable medium for storing data representative of the prosthetic device. The prosthetic device includes a body portion having an implantation surface configured to face the bone upon implantation and at least one feature that provides a constraint structure that will constrain the prosthetic device in the bone. The robotic system includes a control system for controlling the guide structure, and is configured to define at least one bone-cutting pattern for (i) removing a first portion of bone in a first area sufficient to seat the body portion and (ii) at least one of removing and maintaining a second portion of bone in a second area configured to interact with the constraint structure.
