A cloud-based media content management system for managing access to media content items is disclosed. Managing access to media content items by a cloud-based media content management system may include, for example, managing uploads of media content items from a population of media devices, reducing duplication of media content data stored in cloud-based storage, and providing user-controlled access to media content items stored in cloud-based storage across any number of user devices. In this context, a cloud-based media content management system and cloud-based storage system generally refer to hosted computing and data storage services that may be accessed by media devices and other devices over a digital network such as the Internet.

An apparatus conveniently provides a user with access to applications and data that the user accesses on other devices in a secure and authenticated manner. The apparatus detects the presence of a second device, such as a mobile phone. The apparatus authenticates a user based at least on identifying information provided by the second device. The apparatus locates one or more applications based on resource access information provided by a server based on the identifying information. While the second device remains present, upon authenticating the user, and further upon successfully locating the application(s), the apparatus provides the user with access to the one or more applications. User data for the one or more applications is made available from the second device and/or a server. The data is synchronized across all sources. The data is encrypted at the apparatus, and rendered unreadable when the second device is no longer present.

Various example embodiments are disclosed. According to an example embodiment, a non-transitory, computer-readable medium may include computer-executable instructions stored thereon. When executed by at least one processor, the instructions may be configured to cause a computing system to at least initialize a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone program in a guest mode configured to allow any user of the computing system to place telephone calls, and in response to a user logging in to the computing system, transition the VoIP telephone program from the guest mode to a custom mode for the logged-in user.

The design of logic for implementation in programmable logic array integrated circuit devices is facilitated by allowing various characteristics of modules in the logic design to be parameterized. Specific values for a parameter can be &ldquo;inherited&rdquo; by a logic module from other logic higher in the hierarchy of the logic design. Default values for parameters can also be provided. The user can design his or her own parameterized modules, and logic designs can be recursive, meaning that a logic module can make use of other instances of itself.

A computerized system restricts full revelation of certain information to a user, while also performing limited processing of the information for the user for evaluation. The information is encrypted and therefore may be widely distributed without fear of revelation. An authorization code from the user specifies the type(s) of processing that are permitted, wherein different types of processing produce different type(s) of output that reveal to different degrees the information. The type(s) of output include output which represent more than mere reproduction of the information. A particularly appropriate implementation of the present invention is in the area of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) for logic design.
