A bed cover retention apparatus () has an elastic band (), a clip (), and a planar strip (), the planar strip having a first (interior, insertion) end (), a second (extraction, distal) end (), a first surface, and a second surface. The first surface and/or the second surface may be a high friction surface (), or may be a smooth surface having a high friction material () attached thereto. The elastic band is connected to the first end, extends along the planar strip toward the second end, and is connected to the clip. An optional extraction hole (), an optional extraction ridge (), and/or an optional flare () may be provided. The planar strip may be tapered smaller in width from the second end to the first end.

The movable component is operable between a first operating position where the filter chamber has a first dimension and a second operating position where the filter chamber has a second dimension that is smaller than the first dimension.
