A dosage size multi-chambered, container having separate sealed compartments is provided and includes constituent materials for forming a wallboard joint compound. The container includes a first compartment containing a first mixture including calcined gypsum, a set preventer and water, and a second compartment sealed from the first compartment with a seal and containing a second mixture including a set initiator and water, wherein upon breaking of the seal, the first and second mixtures are combinable by kneading action to provide a dose of the wallboard joint compound.

The invention provides a composition useful as a joint compound comprising water, a filler comprising one or more of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate dihydrate or calcium sulfate hemihydrate, a binder and/or a biocide, wherein the composition after curing is formaldehyde-free.

Compositions suitable for use as joint compounds and related methods

A container mixing stand for securing a container for mixing includes a base plate, a first holding member connected to the base plate and a second holding member movably connected to the base plate and spaced from the first holding member for receiving a container between the first and second holding members. The stand also includes a first pulley assembly having a lever arm movable between a rest position and a tensioning position, and a second pulley assembly coupled with both the second holding member and the first pulley assembly. Movement of the first pulley assembly from the rest position to the tensioning position causes the second pulley assembly to move the second holding member into contact with the container for securing the container in position during mixing.

Container mixing stand

A container mixing stand including a base plate, and a first wall and a second wall connected to the base plate, where the first wall is spaced from the second wall for receiving a container between the first and second walls. A tensioning mechanism independent of the first wall and the second wall is positioned adjacent to at least one of the first wall and the second wall. The tensioning mechanism is movable between a rest position and a tensioning position, where moving the tensioning mechanism to the tensioning position causes at least one of the first wall and the second wall to move along the base plate toward the container and secure the container between the first wall and the second wall.

A joint compound composition comprising a filler, a binder and a hydrocarbon substituted sulfate, sulfonate, sulfuric acid or sulfonic acid is disclosed. The composition of the present invention produces a joint compound that shrinks less and is resistant to cracking and cratering.
