An energy harvester, including a housing, an impeller supported in the housing, an agitator operably connected to the impeller, and a piezoelectric member supported by the housing, the member deflectable by the agitator due to rotation of the impeller. A method of generating power from a flowing fluid, including rotating an impeller with the flowing fluid, actuating an agitator with the impeller, and deflecting a piezoelectric member with the agitator. A borehole system, including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, and an energy harvester disposed within or as a part of the string.

A tapered nose tool having a closed position and an open position, a degradable nose component, a releasable nose component, that is configured to rotate due to fluid passing therethrough and configured for retrievability of a portion of the bull nose tool.

Pass-through tapered nose tool

A tapered nose tool includes a housing, a retrievable tapered nose disposed in the housing and retrievable from the housing, and a mechanically shiftable sleeve. The mechanically shiftable sleeve is shiftable with a shifting profile disposed in the housing. The sleeve anchors the nose in the housing in a first position and releases the nose from the housing in a second position.

A system and method of forming an optical connection. A fiber optic cable includes a first optical fiber and a second optical fiber. The second optical fiber includes a reflective device. An optical device receives the first optical fiber and the second optical fiber. A first signal is observed to verify an optical connection between the first optical fiber and the optical device to verity the optical connection. The fiber optic cable is extended into the optical device to form a secure mating between the first optical fiber and the optical device, thereby changing a state of the reflective device. The secure mating between the first optical fiber and the optical device is determined from the state of the second signal in the second optical fiber.

Downhole fiber optic connector with fiber channel independent testing apparatus

A connector system including a first connector configured to electrically and/or optically connect to a second connector. The first connector includes a first connector body configured to engage with the second connector; a first housing remotely located from the first connector body; a first connecting line including at least one of an electrical control line and an optical fiber connecting the first housing to the first connector body; a first main control line including at least one of an electrical control line and an optical fiber connected to the first housing; and, a first pressure isolator associated with the first housing, the first pressure isolator isolating pressure within the first main control line from pressure within the first connecting line and the first connector body. The first housing and the first connecting line are interposed between the first main control line and the first connector body.
