An unexpected event detection system is provided for a rider operating an electric bicycle. The system includes a bicycle data unit configured to receive bicycle data from the electric bicycle; a wireless device data unit configured to receive device data from a wireless device; an unexpected event module coupled to receive the bicycle data from the bicycle data unit and to receive the device data from the wireless device, the unexpected event module configured to identify an unexpected event associated with the electric bicycle based on the bicycle data and the device data and to generate an alert message upon identification of the unexpected event; and an alert module coupled to the unexpected event module and configured to initiate sending the alert message to an assistance center.

Systems and methods to detect unexpected electric bicycle events

In an example of a multi-vehicle user-assistance method, a central server receives a request from a mobile device. The request includes a location of the mobile device. A central processing unit of the central server identifies a location of a plurality of participating vehicles positioned within proximity of the mobile device. The participating vehicles are unassociated with the mobile device. Instructions are respectively transmitted to at least some of the participating vehicles to activate an exterior lighting component i) as the mobile device is within proximity of the at least some of the participating vehicles or ii) as part of a vehicle lighting pattern.

Multi-vehicle user-assistance systems and methods

A system for controlling a brushless motor includes drive circuitry in communication with the brushless motor and a primary control device in communication with the drive circuitry. The system also includes a secondary control device in communication with the drive circuitry and a multiplexer for selectively providing an output of the primary control device or an output of the secondary control device to the drive circuitry, wherein the output of the primary control device is provided to the drive circuitry when the primary control device is operating normally.

Systems and methods for controlling a brushless motor

A method is provided for detecting a level of functional integrity of a braking system. The method includes applying a brake actuator, sensing via a first sensor the displacement of the braking actuator, and sensing via a second sensor the hydraulic pressure in the braking system. The method also includes determining whether the sensed hydraulic pressure corresponding to sensed displacement is within a predetermined acceptable range.

Brake system functional integrity detection

A tube nut includes a first member and a second member. The first member is threaded and defines a first hole. The second member is selectively rotatable with respect to the first member and defines a second hole. A tube or pipe extends through the first and second holes. The rotation of the first member in a threaded hole causes an axial load on the second member and the tube to urge the tube against a seat to provide a seal between the tube and a fluid passage. Relative rotation between the first and second members reduces or eliminates torsional strain on the tube.
