A two-card assembly includes: a first printed wiring board; a second printed wiring board; a first stiffener secured to the first printed wiring board, the first stiffener interposed between the first printed wiring board and the second printed wiring board; a second stiffener secured to the second printed wiring board, the second stiffener interposed between the first stiffener and second printed wiring board; a transformer mounting plate interposed between the first stiffener and the second stiffener; and a planar transformer secured to the transformer mounting plate. The transformer mounting plate dissipates heat from the planar transformer.

Thermal management of planar transformer windings and cores

An electronic assembly includes a first printed wiring board (PWB) on a first side of the electronic assembly, and a first stiffener secured to the first PWB. The electronic assembly also includes a second PWB on a second side of the electronic assembly, opposite the first side, a second stiffener secured to the second PWB, and a center stiffener seated in the second stiffener and between the first stiffener and the second stiffener. The center stiffener has a first side facing the first stiffener, a second side that is opposite the first side and facing the second stiffener, a first end, and a second end, opposite the first end. Electronic devices are secured to the center stiffener. The center stiffener dissipates heat from the electronic devices, and the electronic devices include power dies.

A cold plate includes a first side with a first surface, and a second side, opposite the first side. A coolant cavity is formed between the first side and the second side. A recessed base is machined into the first surface of the first side. The recessed base is bonded to a base copper plate and is a thinnest portion of the first surface.

A toroidal transformer assembly of an electronic component module assembly includes a transformer mounting plate receptive of the toroidal transformer. The transformer mounting plate includes a base, a center boss extending from the base, and an outer ring extending from the base, and spaced apart from the center boss. The center boss and the outer ring define a mounting location for a toroidal transformer therebetween. A plurality of fins are positioned to conduct thermal energy from the toroidal transformer to the base.

Embodiments are directed to a current limiter having an inrush limiting stage and a discharge limiting stage. The inrush limiting stage is communicatively coupled in series with the discharge limiting stage. The inrush limiting stage is configured to receive a first input current in a first direction, perform an inrush limiting operation on the first input current and pass an inrush limited output current in the first direction to the discharge limiting stage. The discharge limiting stage is configured to pass the inrush limited output current substantially unchanged in the first direction. The discharge limiting stage is further configured to receive a second input current in a second direction, perform a discharge limiting operation on the second input current and pass a discharge limited output current in the second direction to the inrush limiting stage. The inrush limiting stage is further configured to pass the discharge limited output current substantially unchanged in the second direction.
