A refrigeration unit includes an engine, a motor capable of producing a similar power output as the engine, and a compressor driven by one of the engine and the motor. The compressor includes a suction inlet and a discharge outlet. The refrigeration unit also includes a condenser in fluid communication with the discharge outlet through which pressurized, gaseous refrigerant is condensed, an evaporator in fluid communication with the condenser to receive liquid refrigerant and return gaseous refrigerant to the suction inlet, a passageway having a first end in fluid communication with an outlet of the condenser, and a second end in fluid communication with the suction inlet, and a purge valve defining at least a portion of the passageway between the first and second ends. The purge valve is operable to selectively divert liquid refrigerant from the condenser to the suction inlet to increase the pressure in the suction inlet.

A coupling apparatus () has a coupling roller () and a loading mechanism providing a loading force to nest the coupling roller () into continuous rotational contact against the entrance and exit drive rollers (), whereby rotation is transferred between the exit drive roller () and the entrance drive roller ().

A method of aligning an optics deck in six degrees of freedom comprising: mounting an optics deck having a scanline slot on an optics alignment station by means of three adjustable leveler assemblies located at three apexes of a triangle which enclose the slot and whose sides establish axes about which adjustment of the leveler assemblies is carried out such that the bottom surface of the optics deck is parallel to the optics alignment station and at a known height relative to the optics alignment station; translating the optics deck to bring it into proper optical alignment by translating the deck linearly along an axis coincident with the center line of the slot and rotationally about first and second points coincident with the end points of the scan line; and fixing the optics deck after the translating to the leveler assemblies.

A label printer registration assembly for use in a label printer is disclosed. The registration assembly includes: a registration device securable to a base portion frame of the label printer, and a print head assembly mountable to a cover portion frame of the label printer. The print head assembly further includes: a variably loadable print head for printing to a variety of label media types and sizes; and a registration face attached to the print head. The registration face is engageable with the registration device to maintain registration between the print head and the registration device. The print head is variably loadable to a media-specific load. The print head can also be unloaded while the print head and registration roller are engaged so as to achieve and maintain an unloaded registration. The invention also includes a method for printing a dot line to a label media. The invention accomplishes printing in a manner that can accommodate adjustment or varying of the load that is applied to the label media according to the specific label media used.

A label printer-cutter includes a frame and a print head assembly connected to the frame. The print head assembly includes a print head for printing to a label media. The label printer-cutter includes a cutting assembly connected to the frame, and the cutting assembly is for catting the label media. The printer-cutter also includes a controller in operative association with the print head assembly and cutting assembly. The controller can be programmed to control the print head assembly and the cutting assembly such that printing to and cutting of the label media does not occur simultaneously in the label printer-cutter. Printing by the print head is controlled to correspond to cutting assembly rollers being positioned in a non-cutting position. Advantageously, printing to and cutting of a label media in a single label printer-cutter unit is accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Label printer-cutter with mutually exclusive printing and cutting operations

Methods and systems are disclosed for controlling cutting depth of a label media such that the depth of cut is media-specific, that is, specific to the media being cut. The method includes: providing a plotter cutter and a force-generating mechanism; providing a memory device for electronic communication with the plotter cutter, the memory device having a label media-specific value stored thereon; reading the label media-specific value from the memory device; converting the label media-specific value to a label media-specific current signal; providing a label media-specific current based on the label media-specific current signal; applying the label media-specific current to a force-generating mechanism; generating a label media-specific cutting force based on the label media-specific current; and transferring the label media-specific cutting force to the plotter cutter to control plotter cutting at the label media-specific cutting depth. The methods and systems work towards eliminating waste or scrap plotter test cuts by plotter cutting a label media using information from, for example, a memory device associated with a label media supply. The methods and systems obviate the need for manual resetting of plotter cutter depth from one label media to another.

A laser imaging system comprising: a laser diode which projects a laser beam along a first, optical axes; a collimation lens positioned along the first, optical axis for collimating the laser beam; and an assembly for mounting the laser diode and the collimation lens for selective rotation about the first, optical axis and for rotation about second and third mutually perpendicular axes which are also perpendicular to the first, optical axis in order to effect rotation of the laser beam about the first, second and third axes.

A thermal transfer printer including a chassis having opposing side frame members. A pair of cones are each rotatably mounted to one of the opposing side frame members. At least one of the cones has a convex surface with one or more teeth formed thereon. A spool is supported between the pair of cones, wherein the cone teeth engage an end of the spool for rotatably driving the spool. The spool has an elongated body with outwardly extending crush ribs which hold labeling media or ink ribbon thereon.

A thermal transfer printer wherein labeling media and thermal transfer ink ribbon advances past a print head and a platen. The platen urges the ribbon and the labeling media in close cooperation with the print head. The print head exerts a pressure on the platen to provide a platen pressure when the print head thermally transfers ink from the ink ribbon to the labeling media. The print head is pivotally mounted, such that pivoting the print head applies a continuously variable pressure against the platen.
