A fabric treatment composition is provided that includes at least one zeta potential modifier, a fluoropolymer and a hydrophobic agent with a melting point or glass transition temperature below 100&#xb0; C., for imparting fabric protection benefits to a fabric, such as improved stain and soil resistance, oil repellency, water repellency, softness, wrinkle and damage resistance, and better hand feel. Fabric treatment compositions can be used as a pretreatment prior to washing, through soaking, or added to the treatment liquor, that is either the wash or rinse cycle of an automatic washing machine, to first provide and then maintain and refresh the fabric protection benefits imparted to the fabric. Following use of a first treatment composition, protective benefits are maintained and refreshed by means of a second treatment operation employing a second treatment composition. The second treatment composition may have lower active levels of the protective agents to provide for economical and periodic maintenance of the imparted fabric protection benefits.

Fabric treatment for stain repellency

An aqueous hard surface cleaner with improved soil removal is provided and has, as components, the following: (a) either a nonionic or amphoteric surfactant with optionally, a quaternary ammonium surfactant, the total amount of the surfactants being present in a cleaning effective amount; (b) at least one water-soluble or dispersible organic solvent having a vapor pressure of at least 0.001 mm Hg at 25.degree. C., present in a solubilizing--or dispersion--effective amount; (c) Ammonium ethylenediamine--tetraacetate (ammonium EDTA) as a chelating agent, present in an amount effective to enhance soil removal in said cleaner, and (d) the remainder, water.

An aerosol cleaning composition for hard surfaces is provided. The dispensable includes: (a) an anionic, nonionic, amphoteric surfactant, and mixtures thereof with optionally, a quaternary ammonium surfactant, the total amount of said surfactant being present in a cleaning effective amount; (b) at least one water-soluble or dispersible organic solvent having a vapor pressure of at least 0.001 mm Hg at 25.degree. C., said at least one organic solvent present in a solubilizing--or dispersion--effective amount; (c) a chelating agent selected from the group consisting of tetrapotassium ethylenediamine-tetraacetate (potassium EDTA), tetraammonium ethylenediamine-tetraacetate (ammonium EDTA) and mixtures thereof, said chelating agent present in an amount effective to enhance soil removal in said composition; (d) an effective amount of a propellant; and (e) the remainder, water. The forming action of the aerosol composition facilitates the dispersement of the cleaning components.
